I have a long cycle of 34 days, and it just takes ages for it to get to AF. I have to wait way past the 'standard' day 28 cycle. Anyone else have this issue?
Does anyone know the cause of a long cycle?? Is it meant to be ok for fertility? Is there a higher chance of conceiving per month if you have a longer cycle??

You are likely ovulating a week later than normal. Your chances are not greater, but you can still concieve as long as you are ovulating! I used to have cycles 35-45 days and I have 4 children. Your best chances are temping and checking your cervical mucus to pinpoint when to babydance. I'd start trying on Cd 16-23 or anytime you see egg white cervical mucus and see where it gets you!

hi Amy,
i have 39 day cycles so in a similar situation to you. ive been to the dr many times about my cycles (i had a 65 day cycle once which was horrible!) They did all the blood tests to check my hormones and to check for ovulation and everything was OK. So they just advised me some women have naturally longer cycles.
i found it useful to have a period tracker where you can imput when AF starts and after a couple of months it will give you an idea of when you Ov.
Even though i have a long cycle, the gap between ovulation and AF is still 14 days, so really its only the 1st part of the cycle that is long.
i hope this helps and i have not chatted on too long lol
em xx
