Long cycles after the pill

Hi, just wondering if anyone else has experienced very long cycles after the pill and how did it resolve itself? Since coming off my cycles have been 28, 44 ,39,54 days! I'm now on cd 34 and according to opks not ovulated yet. I was worried last month so went to docs, they took a blood sample and I was told everything appeared normal and no need to go back. I'm starting to worry something's wrong, it's been 6mnth since I came off the pill. I feel like I can't even start ttc while things are like this, at this moment in time I'd just be grateful to have regular periods again! I almost feel like the pill has robbed me of my fertility... I used to have very regular 28 day cycles. Was on pill for 9 years. Any advice pls? Thanks

I was on the pill for 7 years and stopped 2 years ago, which is when I started TTC. I have insanely long and irregular cycles. They've gone from 36, 78, 109, 89, 57 (as far as I can recall without looking at my list) and the one I'm on now is currently at CD 124.

I did an ultrasound and a blood test and they all came back fine. My doctor is speculating that after being on the pill for so long (especially during your younger years) your body may forget how to regulate itself and ovulate.

I hope that's not what is happening to you but you should definitely see an OBGYN. Since you haven't been TTC for a year, they can't treat you for infertility but they can try to treat your irregular cycles. The process of treatment is a long one, so it's best to start as early as you can.

Thanks for your reply. What are the doctors doing for u to treat the problem? Have they said if it is likely to rectify itself?

I'm not 100% sure. My doctor referred me to an infertility specialist in June but the appointment isn't until December. He said the specialist will be doing hormone tests, and an HSG if needed. He also said I may need clomid.

I won't know anything for sure until December :/ I've been TTC for 2 years and now they're making me wait even longer!
