I am 14 weeks pregnant and I have been having morning sickness now for the last 8 weeks none stop all day nausea and I am usually sick at least 2-3 times a day. I have been weighing myself as I am concerned and in about 6 weeks I have lost 1 and a half stone alomost. I am really concerned about this as I shouldn't be losing weight this quick!!!

I have been to see 2 different docs during this time who have just said that it is part of pregnancy to be sick but some get it worse than others. I told the last doctor how much weight I had lost and she just said you will put it back on eventually!

Has anyone else had this much weight loss due to pregnancy sickness?? Any advice would be great, I have tried all sorts but still be sick i.e. ginger biscuits and ginger tea, dry toast, fizzy drinks... Sorry about the long moan lol

    Thanks
    Crystal xx

Hi Crystal, losing weight in your first tri is not uncommon. I lost 4 lbs in a few weeks simply b/c I was unable to keep any food down. Like you I was throwing up 3-4 times per day and even had trouble keeping water down. Your doc can prescribe you something if you'd like. I have a pill which I take every 4 hours. Unfortunately it's a stage many of us go through. If you are ever feeling extremely dizzy or faint for long periods head to your ER as you may be dehydrated. But don't worry hun, your lil one is ok in there even though you feel horrible.

Thanks for your replies, I have spoken to my doctor about medication but she advised that she would not prescribe me anything becos they may have side effects on the little one. She advised that I had to just get through the sickness. Just a bit concerned about how long this will go on for as I dont want to be losing too much weight. I am in the 2nd tri now though so hopefully it will start to die down or go away so I can enjoy my food without it coming back up again.

    Thanks

It should start to subside a bit soon, I lost a stone in my first pregnancy, and no one was concerned.......and have lost 5lbs in this one too. Not been sick though, just nauseous.
I hope you soon feel better, and you can start to enjoy and bloom!

I lost loads of weight to begin with, I was soooo sick, on two kinds of medication and everything. But I've gained it back, and then some.

I know it sucks being sick and you don't believe anybody when they say that it will eventually get better, but it does, it does get better, honest!
