Hi ladies,

I am currently 13 dpo, and period is about to come according to my temp dip. However, my partner had a semen analysis last week and he got the results back today- 11 million per 1ml I think he said it was. According to his doctor (and google) the normal is 20 million - 150 million. Has anyone experienced this before? He is already on zinc and maca :( from the beginning of ttc !

He is getting more tests done to see if there is any other reasons behind it. He's very down, feeling as though it's his fault. I'm not sure what to do. He's only 23 as well and wants a family more than anything so this kills me. What can doctors do in this case?! Please any help, tips or sucsess stories would be well appreciated.

Is he diabetic? because I know men who are diabetic can have low sperm counts. Also I read somewhere that caffeine can cause low sperm counts as well. My husband is diabetic and when we started trying we both went off of soda, and if we do drink soda he will always go for the decaffeinated ones. I also have him eating a mixture of Almonds, Brazilian, and Walnuts because I also read that those types of nuts can help with producing healthy sperm.

Just let him know it's not his fault that you guys are having a hard time TTC and a low sperm count isn't the end of the world, just means more sexy time ^_^ I really do hope you guys find out what is going on though and that it isn't anything serious Good luck!

Thanks for your reply Hun. Not a diabetic and just about the healthiest person I know. Very fit and healthy. Which is why it is such a shock. Could have sworn it was me.

I will try the nuts but honestly I don't know whether that will increSe it the amount it needs to be increased :( thanks

Np hun, just try to keep up hope! lots of :hugs::hugs::hugs: for both of you guys.

Ok so I just found out it was actually 3 million in 1mL :(

My DF has less than 2 million per ml. We just found that out yesterday. I was happy it was not one or two per million as it had sounded when his GP gave the results some weeks ago.

It only takes one. Good luck.

So sorry :( it's absolutely heartbreaking. We have been so upset the past few days but realized that we just have to do what we need to do! I have made an appointment with a fertility specialist and my fiancé has an appointment with a urologist as well in August hopefully to get the ball rolling. Yes it does only take one but our doctor really didn't have much hope as he said it is minimum 20 million per ml to achieve pregnancy. So if it does happen it will be a great surprise but we just have to be prepared for the worst anyway I suppose !

R u in Australia honi????

Yes I am in Aus :)

My hubby had sperm count, morph nd motility issues. The FS advised us nd so did the IVF clinic to go on spermMax ( U can only get it at the chemist wearhouse) nd after 3 months on it he was back above arg. I strongly suggest u get hubby on them. Ill send u the link if u like as u can order from them on lie if u dnt have one close by

I guess I convinced myself that two million is still a huge number, and it could happen. I'm not happy with the doctor we saw, because he thinks DF could get normal numbers in six+ months if he follows orders, but he entirely dismissed the fact that I have entirely messed up cycles (no ovulation 80% of them,) endometriosis, and complex cysts plus prior surgeries for those issues. He said that since I am 27 we have many years ahead to try.
Maybe, but we have reasons to want to conceive now not later, and we thought he would recommend us to a fertility specialist. :(
Right now I am four days late, all negative tests, and I am beginning to think it is from a cyst that was supposed to be removed in June (until my insurance changed before the surgery.) Now I have to pay out of pocket to see my doctor this week to find out what is wrong and proceed from there.
Sorry for the rant...

However, if it turns out I managed to get pregnant this cycle then there is definitely hope for you guys. ;)
Good luck with the specialists.

Sperm max..interesting. Hubbys SA came back with 18 million per ml. He has High Blood pressure and takes medication for it..wonder if it would be safe for him to take. He has been taking Maca too & limits alcohol & caffeine. I heard Royal Jelly and Bee Pollen can work for men too.

Good luck with the specialists.

Honestly, my doctor was so crappy when i went to see him about 2 months ago. He told me that no fertility specialist will talk to me until my partner and I have been trying on our own for 2 years! He also said that he wanted to wait until then to test DF semen and also before testing me for anything. (He insisted this was normal because we were both early 20's and shouldn't have a problem). But now as my partner has a work doctor because of the work he does, he asked for a test, and was given one. Results were terrible and then was forwarded to a few specialists and also had a blood test that showed quite low testosterone. He feels like something is wrong with him every time he goes to the doctor the poor thing.

I felt pretty let down by my Dr, so i just called a Fertility Specialist Group here in Australia, and they basically told me to not worry about my doctor and that it is my choice when to start investigating. They were really helpful and now we have an appointment on August 9th to see if something is going on with me/ to discuss our options. So if you can, maybe just chase it up yourself? Be pushy. Seemed to work a little with me ;) ahha.

I hope you guys didnt have any sex 3-5 days prior the SA test cuz that can also mess up the results.
