Lower Back Cramps? & Lady Question

Are lower back cramps normal in the 2nd trimester? It seems as if I always get lower back cramps around the time my AF would be due. I am 17 weeks, but it still freaks me out a bit. It seems to get better if I lay down or sit down. Nothing painful per say just achey. No bleeding thank goodness.

Also I noticed when I went to the bathroom after my shower that I had a whitish clearish mucous type gunk. It reminds me of those days when you are fertile and have the sticky slimy mucous :/ My friend told me that when you are pregnant you will have "Cheese" type mucous, could this be what she is talking about? This is the first time I have noticed it. Is that normal? I have been on antibiotics and just finished them today for a UTI, so could they have possibly caused some weirdness?
