Hey everyone,

Just wondering if anyone else had experienced anything similar?

I find myself craving the smell of paint and sawdust and other d.i.y products? Anything woody really, I'd quite happily spend a day in b&q at the moment lol and when I'm cleaning the hamster out I can't help but sniff the sawdust :-/

It's really annoying because if it was just some kind of food I was craving I could just eat it and not crave it so much but this craving doesn't seem to go away.

I even find myself sniffing the middle of catalogues if I'm flicking through one it's mad lol

Anyone know if this is normal or completely insane?! Lol

Xx

I have to smell White spirit, or fire lighters or petrol. My body seems to need it! What the hell can our bodies be needing to want these products in them? I literally want to eat the fire lighters. I think that'd be rather bad for me though. Lol

Haha yeah maybe not the best idea! :) mind you- I've always felt like that with fire lighters ever since I was about 5 lol my mum used to think I was crazy xx

I was having mad cravings for sand and posted about it a few weeks ago. Often pica (craving non-food items) is a sign you're low in something - usually iron! I got a blood test and found out I'm anemic so am now on tablets. I have to say the craving for sand is wayyyy less now that my iron is going up! xx

Also there's no iron in sand either - the non-food craving doesn't have to contain what you are missing.
I would get checked and see if you're low in anything!! xx

It's sooo funny you posted this -

2 days before I found out I was pregnant I had to go to get some paint to paint the (cream!!) bathroom walls as id got black hairdye all over them and OH was going mad. I had been very sick for two weeks before that, so my dad came with me. I had to get out of the car just before I went in the store to throw up and get some air, but as soon as I walked in B&Q I smelt the paint in the air and immediately my sickness went! I remember saying to my dad 'The smell of paint is making me not feel sick!' and he just stood there giving me funny looks!

Well as soon as I left the store I only had to be sick again, Im suprised neither of us clocked on earlier that something was up! :D
