I woke up with an extremely sore throat, in my sleep deprived state this morning I took a dose of Benylin Extra Strength Cough & Cold. A few minutes later I realised it was a mistake as there is a combination of medicinal ingredients (15mg Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, 30mg Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride, 200mg Guaifenesin and 15mg Menthol), which to my understanding is a no-no when BF. As it's morning here in Toronto, I gave him his first feeding of EBM and will 'pump and dump' in order to keep my supply and system regulated.

My question is, when can I safely BF again. I have 2 more bottles of EBM so am good for at least another 6 hrs but I much prefer to give him the breast over the bottle.

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.:flower:

I would still feed. It's one dose and for all that will pass into your milk, risk is tiny.

Googling leads me to believe that only small amounts pass into the breastmilk and it can be used during pregnancy/breatsfeeding if the risk outweighs the benefit to the mather. That usually means that there is only a perceived risk

Just nervous about it...so wishing I hadn't taken it.

Aw honey!

Don't feel guilty! We have all made mistakes. It's not as if you were out all night snorting powder up your nose or something.
