I'm also posting this in the cesarean section category because my c-section is today and I'd really like to know.

My pre-op phone call included: No eating or drinking for 8 hours (totally not fair since my surgery is at 2:30PM and I'm already thirsty), no jewelry, no contacts. That's all she said. I forgot to ask if I could wear makeup. Did anyone else? I already plan to straighten my hair this morning and I'd like to look pretty for the 10,000 pictures that will be taken shortly after the section.

Anyone?

I've never had a section but for other surgeries it's been no makeup and no nail varnish so the anaesthetist can check your colour and that you're ok. I would expect it to be the same for a section as the epidural/ spinal can affect your blood pressure. Hope this helps!

Thank you :)

I asked my surgeon directly if my false nails (I had gel overlays during my appointment) were a problem and he said no. He said it was only a problem for getting the oxygen monitor to sit on my finger but they could cut it down if that was a problem. I removed them anyway because I'm ultra paranoid.

This is so confusing. Oh well, I guess no one really expects me to look fabulous today, right? :D

Im wearing it... if they ask me to take it off I willl...

I would rather have to take it off as then I will at least have most of my eye make up on so still look awake haha

Good luck today :)

I was told to not wear any make up and remove all nail varnish.

I was reading an article in the sun (classy I know!) the other day about women who spent hundreds on beauty treatments specifically to give birth I.e hair done, fake lashes, nails done, bikini wax, fake tans and literally full on makeup and it included someone who had a scheduled c-section... They just wanted to look pretty for the photos! When I had my c-section I don't recall being asked to take my makeup off but then I'd been at the hospital all day so most of it had probably worn off by that point anyway x
