Does anyone know what the maternal heart rate should be in pregnancy?

I believe I am about 6 weeks 4 days (will find out for sure on Sep 27, first scan!) and my resting heart rate is 100 bmp, before pregnancy it was 75-80. I know this because I was big on monitoring my heart rate while working out before I got pregnant.

I am worried because I have seen on some websites that a heart rate of 100 or over can be a sign of an ectopic pregncy because of light internal bleeding.
Some websites also say that due to increased amount of blood the mom's heartrate will normally be higher when pregnant than when she isn't.

So how high is it supposed to get, just to like 90, but 100 is too high?

I'm so clearly obsessing, lol, and I know I'll find out what the deal is on Tuesday, I was just wondering if anyone knew anything on the subject.

I don't think I have ectopic symptoms, but i am very tender on my lower abdomen and I feel as thought I had a tender lump on my left lower side, but I am also prone to cysts so I'm hoping that's what that is.

Women's heart rates increase during pregnancy due to the increase in blood volume which is about 50%. My resting heart rate was about 120 before pregnancy due to a sinus arrythmia. Medications kept it around 80-90 but obviously I'm not taking the meds now so I've been miserable. You could try a magnesium supplement but I'd talk about it with your doctor first.

Hmm as someone whose had an ectopic in the past, I couldn't even tell you if my heart rate was up  Mind you, my tube didn't rupture til I was on the operating table, so hadn't had any internal bleeding til then. But I had a bad panic attack the other night and had myself into the ER as it caused chest pains and I wanted to make sure I wasn't harming the baby of course.. my heart rate was up to 117bpm and the doctor said it was a little too fast, but my blood pressure was still great so she wasn't concerned  It's pretty normal for our hearts to speed up at times, pregnant or not.. I wouldn't look into it too much if you can help it! xx

I can actually answer this!
My heart rate has always been between mid 50's and mid 70's but has recently been higher for no apparent reason.
A couple of times now it has been resting at the 100 mark.
I'm waiting for my blood results to come in but my midwife is pretty sure I'm anaemic, this causes heart palpitations.

Another cause of increased resting heart rate is a virus.
Have you spoken to your dr about it?
I'm going in the week for a body mot if my results turn out to be not anaemic.

I didn't know about possibly being anemic. Always a possibility. And I have no idea about the virus. I'll ask about all these things on Tuesday. Thanks!

I have high blood pressure and take medicine to get it lower, but it was still on the higher side. I didn't eventhink about it maybe going high again. Maybe I should up my dosage? Something else to ask the doc. Thanks!

Ahh, that could be another possibility that they're going hand in hand! Definitely bring up that and anemia to your doc, it's a start. Good luck :hugs: x

Normal heart rate in a non-pregnant women is 60 - 100 beats per minute. If your heart rate was way over 100 then I would say there might be more reason to be concerned but no over a heart rate of 100. Good luck at your sono on Tuesday! I have mine on Monday. I am 5w6d.
