Am feeling desperate cannot get a bra to fit. Outgrew my normal bras around 6 wks ago so got fitted at m and s with a nursing bra which has felt ok since then but every day when I take it off my boobs are pushed together red and sort of swollen which can't be good. I'm a large size so it's hard enough anyway to get something that fits. Have been to bravissimo in past but their maternity section looks very minimal and I've read bad things on here about mothercare bras so tried debenhams the other day didn't trust them to fit me as most places seem to not know how to fit properly bought a maternity bra and thought it was right but after wearing for a day it digs in and hurts and they won't exchange it cos its been worn :( don't know what to do now feel desperate. I've bought a cheapie asda one temporarily but also feels bit tight and itches cos it's not cotton.

a friend of mine sent me this link https://www.nursingbra-shop.co.uk/ maybe they can help?

get someone to measure you (you can't do it yourself well as where your arms are matters) and then order some to try out :) The hotmilk ones are recommended by her too

I am still wearing my normal bras (at 38w!) so not had this yet but I'll be going to John Lewis for a fitting and also order some from there to find ones I like :)

I got mine from debenhams. I got one maternity one and one nursing one when they had a sale on. I usually wear a 38E, I am now wearing a 40FF. I think the brand I've got is Miriam Stoppard? https://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wc...ome~Lingerie~Maternity+&+nursing+lingerie

I don't know what size you are, but I think the largest they have in stock atm is a 40FF.

I hope you find something soon, I know how frustrated I was when I couldnt find anything which fitted well.

I've got a gorgeous pink one from bravissimo, a panache one, they go upto a j cup. Have a look on the website, they have a few different nursing & maternity styles this season x

I have found sports bras to be really comfy. This one in particular - it is not underwired and has detachable straps at the front. Also gives great support as a sports bra x

Thanks for the replies. The one I got from debenhams was the Miriam Stoppard but I obviously got the wrong cup size :( I might try mothercare then if someone has had a good experience there.

Personally I have not found the mothercare ones to be too great. I have carried on wearing them for the last few weeks but will be going to get some more/nursing bras v soon as they just dont support me very well. I wonder if actually the girl who sized me up didnt do it properly. I did think at the time they didnt feel quite right. i should have trusted my instinct I guess. I hae bra shopping at the best of times though let alone when I feel huge and fat lol.

I work in mothercare :haha:

I wear their bra's and measured myself! I will say tho it depends what style bra u go for, the sizes vary with the tshirt bra's, black or White support bra's and the patterned ones! I always tell the ladies I measure about the sizing differences and get them to put them on so I can check they fit

Tshirt bra's u need to go up a band size, black and White ones sometimes need to go down a cup size and patterned ones normally fit right :D they SHOULD all be the same size but after working there 7 years I know they're not.. Which admittedly is a bit poo!

Ask them to check for u :) or if u don't want them too make sure u can do them up on either the tightest hook or the middle hook so u've got room for growth!

Think I've babbled enough and it prob makes no sense

Personally as a larger boobed lady I think it is literally not possible to get a softcup that is supportive, comfortable and fits properly. They all give sweaty monoboob. This time I'm going to invest in a couple of wired nursing bras. Damned if I'm going to spend the summer feeding in a soft bra. The ones I'm looking at are called Anita I think but I'm not going to buy right away as I know it'll take a little while for my milk supply to settle.

Yes! Exactly, that's it, sweaty monoboob, that's what I have from the nursing bra and the non-underwired normal bra that I bought! The miriam Stoppard maternity bra seemed good as it has separate cups to avoid the monoboob but no underwire, I thought that had solved my problem but I got the wrong size as after my problems with fittings I didn't want anyone else to fit me :(

I didn't know u could get wired nursing bra's?! I'm gonna have a look :D

I've only gone from a 36G to a 38G so far, although I know I'll get bigger once my milk comes in. I have just bought a couple of sports bras from Asda which were £4 each and more comfy than any expensive bras I have bought. Not sweaty or itchy at all.

Yeah fitting will be a bit trial and error for me as I normally wear only Panache Superbra and every brand is different but I'll get there!

I've tried marks and spencers, debenhams Miriam Stoppard and mothercare and found all of them useless! Mothercare being the worst but all have left me with sore boobs and no support. Bought a hot milk bra yesterday after a recommendation, really impressed the second I tried it on and it actually gives me support (34GG so need it!), fingers crossed it stays that way after a few wears!
I've looked at the bravado ones online, they are structured but non underwired so might give those a go too-anyone tried them?

When I went to mothercare I got properly measured and I've brought some nursing ones just with a larger cup size. The sleep ones are supposed to be good, there's always lots of good coments about them. I've only purchased a couple to be getting on with but I have found the Mothercare ones are ok. Your boobs are changing all the time at the moment tho and will get bigger again towards the end. Hope you get the bras you need cos it's not nice hurting when your boobs are growing.
