Hello ladies

Where are people getting their maternity clothes? I am nearly in need of smart work clothes etc. I am petite (5'2) - where do people recommend?

Also, what are peoples experience of under vs over the bump clothes? Not sure what to get!

Thank you x

Under the bump peed me off royally! Check out mamas and papas, h&m, new look, gap and debenhams for smart bits and if you are not short of cash Isabella Oliver and seraphine maternity (can find on ebay) xxx

Thanks for the info....not wanting to spend a fortune :) Will check ebay out - thanks xx

Over the bump are much better. Under the bump just fall down all the time, have to keep yanking them up. New look are good for maternity wear

Oh I'm completely different, I prefer under the bump. I found that once my bump got to a certain size, the over the bump ones fell down all the time. I go in H&M (although they aren't great for petite - I'm 5ft 2 and just either roll the trousers up or get my mum to take them up). I haven't actually come across anywhere that does petite maternity clothes. But I do have some stretch jeans that I had before I was pregnant and they have actually been better than the maternity ones x

I love new looks maternity range!

As for under or over the bump. I prefer over the bump they're much more comfortable!

I'm 5ft2 as well and have found it a nightmare, even shops that do petite ranges and maternity ranges don't seem to think there needs to be anything for both! I've had to rely on eBay a lot. Next, New Look and Mothercare are quite good for maternity stuff and do petite sizes in things such as jeans, although I've had to buy on their websites as not found any in the stores.

Someone on here once recommended the Eden jeggings in Dorothy Perkins, they're not officially maternity but they are stretchy, and come in petite. I bought a pair of these in black and one in grey in a size bigger than I would normally buy, and wear them for work with the waist band folded over. They've been great and still fit fine now at 26 weeks, I just wear long tops and cardigans over them.

New Look are very reasonably priced and have a large range of maternity stuff online, they have loads of different styles and lengths in jeans and trousers.

I found under bump annoying to start with as they seemed to sit a lot lower than my bump and fell down a lot, but now bump is bigger they're fine. I found a really comfy pair of jeans in New Look that said they were under bump, but the band was thick elastic that actually sat across the middle of my bump and although they were very comfy to start with, baby doesn't seem to like where the band sits and kicks at it constantly when I wear them!
I think different styles suit and fit different people better than others so it can be a case of trying different ones til you find which you like best.

I like newlook but i find the sizes really generous so i buy a size down from what i am trouser wise anyway as although they fitted my bump they were massive everywhere else. Tops i bought my regular size as my bump will grow i to them.

I always found New Look fab for maternity. Oh and preferred under the bump.

So far I prefer over the bump. I love my jeans from Mothercare but hate my jeans from Debenhams - they fall down constantly despite being over the bump.

As the girls said, also jojo mamen bebe maternity is lovely quality, it's a bit expensive but might be nice for a couple of bits. I have bought one of their stuff off ebay and very good prices :)

new look online - as they stock asos and other brands.- for every day casual wear.
next/mama n papas (but only off ebay) - for smart stuff.
red herrin from debenhams for occasional stuff.

personally i found as soon as bumo was a good size over the bump stuff was horrible.

i try to wear mostly stuff made of jersey material like wrap dresses and smart maxi dresses for work.

I have also found this a nightmare, do shops not realise there is a market for petite maternity clothes, annoying. I'm not generally a trousers person so have found nice dresses to wear from ASOS, debenhams and new look. Just don't order new look white trousers, they are see through, which was annoying as they are the right length. Thankfully at this stage I'm still in my own dresses and just wanted a few new things for work.
The thing that's annoying me is finding maternity shorts, I do a bit of gardening and like to wear shorts when hot, but I'm still having to wear leggings as my shorts have finally become too small.

Also I bought some under bump next jeans but I still haven't worn them, my leggings are far too comfortable!

eBay, new look and asos, lots of choice and cheap x

I'm also petite and have gone for Topshop pants - love that they come in same size but different lengths, so easier to find something that fits me. The cut suits my body type as well - I think I like my maternity jeans better than my regular ones! And I found some great black pants for work. They match my jacket exactly so it looks like a suit. With an untucked shirt, you can't tell that I'm pregnant, although I think that will change in a few weeks time.
