Maternity leave

for those of you who work, when are you taking maternity leave?

I don't know when is the best time cause i don't want to work until the very end but i don't want to stop too early either!

Any ideas anyone?

Hi with dd I stopped at 36 weeks and took one week annual leave before starting mat leave.
I was getting tired and having a few weeks to myself was great (even though lo was 9 days late)

I work full time and want as much time off as possible (and that I can afford) once the baby is here so I've been saving my hols, going to take hols from 19/12 and actual mat leave starts on my due date, 29/12 I get 26 weeks at 90% salary then going to take the rest of my hols before going back. I'd love to leave earlier but i know i'll personnaly regret it when baby is here. Nx

I'm due 21st March and am planning to take holiday from the start of March and then start my actual leave on due date.

First baby though so that might be unrealistic!

I'm starting mine at 36 weeks but will stop at 35 as I will have a weeks holidays still to take x x

I can't decide when to take mine either! On the one hand I want to take my leave earlier rather than later because I'm fed up with my workplace. On the other I don't want to be bored out of my mind for the remaining weeks and I have a feeling I might regret taking my leave too early. Hmmm. So, I don't know. :/ Aren't I helpful!

Last time I had my mat leave booked to start at 38 weeks but ended up signed off sick at 32. Luckily I was still able to start my mat leave at 38 though.

This time my mat leave is due to start on 30th January and I'll take a weeks annual leave before. I'm due on 19th February but am having a c section between 7th and 12th sometime. So all being well I'll be working quite close but I'd rather that way and then have longer off with baby.

I get 6 months at full pay then 3 months at the smp rate and the option of the additional 3 months unpaid. Plus I'll have almost an entire years worth of annual leave to tag on to the end.

I'm stopping at Week 35 which is 3 weeks holiday before I start Maternity leave at Week 38. That's if I last that long!

I'm taking mine at 34 weeks, which means it'll start 6th January. We live on the third floor and there's no lift, so I won't wanna climb those stairs every day!! Also I work in retail so it's standing up ALL day long. I wanted to do one more Christmas before I went on mat leave, then get outta there asap!! I like my job, but it's already a bit difficult if I feel sick/faint/tired. They're super understanding but I'd rather leave earlier x x

I havent been in work since week 7 (hyperemesis) still have another month of sick leave to take (spd) and also have 7weeks annual leave to take so I dont know either, was gonna finish between 29weeks and 34weeks though. My job is very physically demanding so couldnt have worked longer if I'd wanted 2. xx

36 weeks I'll be leaving using 2 weeks hol & 2weeks mat leave before my EDD!
If I am starting to struggle I will prob leave at 34wks though!

I think I am gonna start my maternity at week 38 (or 37) and before that i have a coupe of weeks holidays. So i will finish work at the latest 36 weeks.

I'm planning to work until we break up at xmas (16th Dec) due on 9th Jan. Not sure if i'll make it though!! Hope I do, coz then I'll get the xmas hols off before my mat leave starts in Jan (2 weeks free hol!) x

This is also something I am trying to figure out... I dont have paid maternity leave but can take up to three months of nonpaid. I have a week of vacation and a week of sick time to use...So I will probably have to come back to work after like two months gone.

I'm leaving on the 27th of January (although may change that to the 20th if I get too tired) and my EDD is the 20th of Feb. I'm going to use holiday until week 39 then start maternity leave.

37 weeks works out well for me, I'm a teacher and due March 5th so I'm going to work til Feb half term and have my maternity leave start the monday I'd be due back so it's actually only 2 weeks before but there's one week holiday I've counted too as I won't be at work x

I'm right up to my due date, although I get 3 weeks vacation so I may take that right before my DD. I'm taking the full year off for Maternity and Parental leave so I might as well use all my vacation time up. (ALTHOUGH it depends if I have to train the temp they will have to hire or not.)

Oh thats awful! I've got hyperemesis too, i've had a total of about 6 weeks of work, days here and there and i'm still on four tablets a day to stop me being sick!

I'm scared that i wont last until like 36 weeks.

Baby is due 18th Feb and I'm due to stop work on 31st January. I've had people tell me it's best to work on if you can, as if baby's late it can seem like it's taking forever, and others who've said the last few weeks were a real struggle and they wished they had finished earlier.
