at my midwife app on tues i ony measured 35 weeks and had done the previous 2 weeks before.
im being sent for a scan tomorrow, but iv googled.....i know i shouldn't and now im scared....it mentions allsorts like downs etc.
was anyone else measuring small for dates and had a healthy baby?
my daughter was only 6lb 7oz and is the tallest in her class!
does it mean weight wise or limbs etc?! help please!! before my imagination goes into over drive!!

Without going into all of it, yes... google can scare people! There are real issues out there, for sure. However, you're not measuring that far behind, and it sounds like you make little babies anyway. :) Keep in mind that one of the best ways to determine fetal well-being and is to be sure your LO keeps moving. Don't go crazy with text-book number of kick counts. Just be sure your LO is having movement that you feel is appropriate for you. :) Also... ultrasounds can be off by up to a pound in either direction!

Don't worry - that's number one!

Our consultant is known as one of the ultrasound experts in the country - that and PCOS. Basically, he said there is always, always a margin of error with these things...DD was measuring v.big, and I had to go for fortnightly growth scans to establish how I'd give birth etc. Regular ultrasounds had her at around 10lbs at wk 36. He scanned us, got her as 8lbs, and the week after she was born at 8lbs 7oz.

There is always room for error - and scanning is not an exact science.

My friend had her baby measuring small, and had any number of scans. She was worried - and needn't have been. She gave birth to a fighting fit little girl, 6lbs 9oz.

Try not to google - I know it's hard, I am a google addict - but it never gives you the good stories...and there will be 100000000000000000000s of those.

I am sure, sure everything will be fine - they would have picked up on it if something was wrong, they'll scan you again and I am sure it will be fine.

My midwife always measured my belly as two weeks behind what it should be - and yet my scans were the opposite! I am sure your LO is just fine...there is a lonnnnng way to go until scanning is an exact process.

Keep us updated :hugs:

please try not to worry, the same thing happened to me. Had no growth of bump for 4 weeks. When i had scan sonographer said so many women are sent for growth scans and causes them worry. All that had happened was she had dropped down in womb. I had been really worried beforehand as so many people kept telling me my bump was small. Baby was born a healthy weight with longer than average legs ( you should see her daddy!) I'm sure all will be fine :hugs:x

I measured 2 weeks behind at your stage too. A scan at 36 weeks had her at 6lb 2oz, she was born 7lb 2oz at 41 weeks. The position of your baby can make your measurements vary too, as can the amount of fluid.

I was the right size for my dates but scans showed low waters and also Summer wasnt the right size for my dates. I had 2 weekly scans from about 32 weeks, they estimated her to be 6lb plus at 38 weeks so left me to it then saying it was all fine and the waters measured better also. I ended up being two weeks late and had a section, Summer was born weighing 5lb 5oz's!!! nothing is accurate hunny so dont panic xx you'll be fine :) xxx

I had a scan at 32+6 & baby was measuring fine - (49%ile) then a rescan at 36+6 and baby was measuring small. All the measurements showed she measure between 34+1 & 34+6. So dr said at the first scan that she weighed around 4 1/2 lbs. Next scan they said she would weigh between 4 1/2 - 5 lbs. Because she had way slowed down for growth & my bp they induced me that day so I gave birth on 37 weeks exactly. My baby weighed 5lbs14oz at birth. So they were about a pound off. My little girl is still a little small for her age - but no other problems. We were released from the hospital at the normal amount of time & she had her first peds appt 3 days later which she passed with flying colors. We dont go see her dr again til feb!
Im sure your baby will be just fine - I was told that sometimes later in pregnancy the placenta can start to age - in that case baby would be better off being born so they can be gaining weight outside the womb. In my case my placenta wasnt aged but it was smaller than average which they were attributing to my higher bp.

Good luck :hugs:

I was always measuring 2 weeks behind and Olivia was 8lb 6oz at birth, it was just their was very little fluid. Try not to worry!

The biggest I measured was 34 weeks...yet at 41 weeks I gave birth to a 7lb 14oz baby. Everyone asked me where she'd come from  so dont worry.

Hi

Try not to worry I was sent for a scan at 38 weeks because I was measuring 4 weeks behind and had done for a few weeks. I was told at the scan that the baby was not small he was very curled up. When I had him 2 weeks later he was a healthy 8lb 8oz baby who was very long. xx

By fundal height I was measuring between 2-4 weeks smaller than my dates, but by ultrasound was measuring ahead. LO was born at 36w weighing 6lbs11oz - they think he would have been 9-10lbs at full term - so yes, its definitely not an exact science!
xx

thanks ladies....will update tomorrow after the scan!!xxxx

I measured small throughout and she is fine - she wasn't huge considering she was 16 days late (7lb 12) but she wasn't tiny either! Those tape measure tests are very subjective and everyone carries differently. Don't worry! Also, I went one week and the midwife measured me 3cm smaller than the student did!

When i was pregnant my m.w said LO was measuring small for dates.. but then when i got my scan she was fine she was actually on the big side not small at all she was a healthy 8 pound 10 oz baby girl.. hope everything goes well at scan hun :) x

When I went to the midwife for my 38 week appointment, she measured me and I was measuring 33cm, the same as I had done at my 36 week apointment. Me and OH went to the hospital, where they measured me again, and this time I was measuring 30cm so they sent me for a scan, and it came up that LO was just on lower end of scale in terms of normal growth, and they basically advised me that they would want to induce labour because they were not sure if she had always been small throughout, or if she has stopped growing. But they wanted to monitor me frist.
Over the next week I went back to the day assesment unit and they continued to monitor me to make sure baby was okay, they just put a strap around your belly and ask you to press the button whenever you feel a movement. At the the end of the week and gave me another scan and then decided to induce because there still wasn't much growth. Seren was born 5lb 12oz and was perfectly healthy, so try not to worry too much hun. Stay away from google too as it can make things so much worse. Good luck for your scan :hugs: xx

Try not to worry (I know thats easier said than done) my little girl measured small at 33 weeks so I was closely monitored from then, I had another scan at 35 weeks and there had been very little growth so I was induced at 36 weeks. She was tiny at only 3lb 7oz (they estimated 3lbs 11oz) had paedatricians and everyone there at the birth, she was small but absolutely perfect. She spent 13 days in SCBU just to put on a little weight, she was bottle fed from day one and needed no help with anything except for a heated mattress for few days until she could regulate her temp. She is now 9 weeks old and had our first appointment with the neo-natal specialist this week he said she is showing excellent growth and is as bright as a button :)

I am sure lo will be fine and like DaisyBee said it is sometimes better for them to be born a little before they are ready if your placenta is misbehaving!

Goodluck x

thanks ladies.....have my scan at 10.30 so will update you all!! feel much better reading these stories!!xx

woooooo hooooooo!! lol!!
