medicine troubles - advice plz!

My 2 yr old has a chest infection and has been given banana flavoured liquid amoxycillan to take 3 times per day. He took the first dose no problem and then pulled a face and said I Don't like it mummy. Time for dose two and he is screaming pulling away. After a few gentle attempts with no luck Oh held him while I tried to syringe into his mouth it went up the wall all over everyone and anything in his mouth was promptly spat out!
Does anyone have any advice on ways to get him to take it?

Depends whether it has to be taken on an empty stomach or not. I found telling my LO she could have a bit of chocolate afterwards to take the taste away worked quite well (as she doesn't normally get chocolate to eat). the next time we had antibiotics they were a different sort and were orange flavoured. She took that no problem and we didn't need the chocolate bribe!

I've had this problem and I've had to call the doctor to get another flavor/medication.

It doesn't say anything about empty stomach so will try the chocolate bribe in morning as I don't think I will get anywhere tonight he is far too emotional.
If that doesn't work I will ask for a different flavour if there is one. Thank you ladies

Oh now I've read this ... I've been through exactly the same with the banana flavoured stuff. I asked for another flavour but they didn't want to give it to me without a new prescription and I couldn't get one because it was the weekend, so the pharmacist said to give it out the fridge, the colder the better, which will make the taste seem a bit better and it worked. He also suggested mixing it with a bit of yogurt if that didn't work.

If none of that works, supposedly squirting it into the side of their cheek towards the back works and keeps them from spitting it out. My LO has always fought with me over medicine and vitamins. Recently he's done better if we tell him to "be a big boy, 1, 2, 3!" or whatever and sometimes offer chocolate after.
