Isaac wakes up at around 4.30-5 am at the moment and no mateer what I try wont go back to sleep. He also has a huge meltdown and is clearly still tired but refuses to lie back down. Its getting very frustrating especially seems as we stayed at my mums last night for her birthday and whilst Isaac went to bed, I stayed up quite late and then he woke at 5. I got about 3 hours sleep, not his fault I didnt go to bed but even so, the meltdown, stamping feet, screaming to go downstairs and then still screaming for 5-10 mins afterwards. He is then tired most of the day and whilst he isnt too grumpy it is clearly taking its toll on us all. Is there anything I can do? I have tried earlier and later bedtimes, leaving him in his room, bringing him into my bed. He is too young to understand groclock and daylight isnt an issue as there isnt any at 5am. I just dont know what to do. I cant even drive today im so tired, im scared id fall asleep at the wheel. :nope:

I know it's tough, but maybe start going to bed when he does. Could you try offering milk when he wakes--warm milk, in hopes it will relax him? Or maybe put on kids nighttime programing, and dim the tv screen.

I cant go to bed when he does, i have loads of work to do and the only time i get to do it is when he is asleep. I also would never see my OH. I might try the walm milk though. will this create a habit of him waking for the milk though? We have been through sleep training twice already. Im not sure I could stomach it again!

My LO is going through a 4.30/5.00 am phase at the moment. It's not fun! Also he's so tired at mealtimes he's struggling to eat and having lots of meltdowns. We're trying a slightly later bedtime today and we've given him a longer than usual nap.

I'm not sure if it will create a habit, but it's worth a try since he's waking every day. Maybe others will be along with a better idea. Sorry you're having a tough time.

My lo was doing this so I moved her bed time from seven to eight this did not work I then only let her have hour sleep in the day and made sure she was in bed by seven, thief seemed to work she now wakes at 6.30.. When she was waking at five I went in tried to settle her and then said mummy is going to sleep now and slept on a mattress on her floor after about ten minutes she would lay down but it was hard. But moving her nap and bed time seems to have worked she is 17 months

My little guy has been doing this for 2 weeks but finally slept through last night. Hopefully the same tonight!

I think it was the 18mth sleep regression combined with teething-he is just 2 weeks older than your son too. I didn't realize there was another regression until I searched it.

Here's hoping they get through whatever it is soon enough! :D

Is he still napping during the day? maybe he's ready to drop a nap?
