Has anyone's doctor recommended there baby getting a meningitis b shot?
It's an extra needle that is in addition to all the other ones she gets!
It's not yet covered by OHIP and my baby is 5 months old!
I also live in Canada, the needle is called bexsero!
Has anyone's Doctor recommended this and/or has anyone gotten it?

Yes it's a new injection here in the UK and has just been introduced. My son has had his first lot of it and second lot on Wednesday. There are some side effects including high temp and making them a bit u well for a few days so you should give them infant parecetemol after it. But apart from that I don't believe there's any severe side effects. Anything that can protect my children from getting meningitis I'm all for! X

Yeah we've had it (UK too). The nurse who did it said something to LO like 'Ok darling, you're not going to like this one!', so I assume the needle was a slightly nasty one (I couldn't watch), but LO recovered quickly, had no side effects and is a perfectly normal 16 month old. I do always get scared when she gets her vaccines though, in case she has some awful reaction and is changed forever, like you sometimes read about. It's just so hard to know what's for the best sometimes  and I still feel conflicted about vaccinating, but plan to continue.

Just realised it was meningitis C we've had, not B!! But that one was ok too! :haha:

Here it will be at around 2 months, with follow-ups at a later date.

My 1&4 year olds had it last month (uk) - all fine

Sorry to hijack but how did you ladies with older babies manage to get it in the UK? My drs refused my son :(

Following out of interest. I wish my son hadn't missed the deadline 😧 were now looking at paying over £450 for them.
