My midwife was uncertain whether my baby was head down but she wrote in my notes he is 4/5th engaged.
Has this happen with you?
I'm so worried he be breech again my scan was last week and he was head down and they said its unlikely for him to turn breech I got a sweep next week too.
It so confusing

They thought my baby was breech throughout most of my pregnancy and sent me for a scan but it turned out he wasn't. Even whilst in labor I still had various midwives ask if he was breech. Sometimes they just have boney bums!

They should hopefully scan you if there is any doubt? my midwife thought baby was head down the whole pregnancy when she was actually breech so sometimes it can be a bit tricky if the bum is bony!

Completely agree. With dd mw told me she was engaged but actually she has her head stuck under my ribs and was feet down! This baby was breech at scan 10 days ago and on tues mw said she thought he'd turned but wasn't sure. I reckon this late the movement would be pretty obvious and uncomfy if they turned. Xx

I'd demand another scan, or at least 2nd opinion and if refused, pay for a private one if you can. Where was baby's heartbeat too? At my last mw appointment she said she was certain the head was up top then confirmed by finding the HB above my belly button. I thought baby was breech as he/she was at a private 28 week scan and all movements have stayed in the same place since xx

She was gonna make me a scan but when I said I feel knees and feet up the top she didn't bother also I be going to the hospital next week for my sweep so they can scan me then if they can, think that's what she was getting at. His heartbeat was just below the belly button and his hiccups are low and when I push on him his whole body moves which feels weird. I think he has got a boney bum, I try to compare what I felt when he was breech which was a round hard lump and when he kicks felt like he was gonna break my waters now I feel a long rectangular not hard or soft lump and it feels like there a leg coming of it haha. I find out next week.

Everything you've mentioned is how my LO felt and he was head down. Hope he is head down for you!

This was exactly what happened to me even the breech specialist didn't know by feeling he had a boney bum and was bum down engaged in my pelvis x

I hope baby is still head down x

When I was in labor with DD my doctor thought she was breech so they did a US. Turns out she was back to back with me, which is why they had a hard time telling.

thank you i really hope he is head down still, he feels head down though and his what i think bum is really low down i think he dropped my bump looks a lot lower but im no expert so i might be wrong haha. i wish the 10th hurry up so i can stop worrying
xx

My second baby went breech without me realising at all at around 37 weeks (had a scan before this where she was head down!). The day before I discovered she was breech, the midwife wrote that the head was engaged too. I ended up having 2 ECVs and the second was successful - went on to have a natural birth.

They scanned me every time they weren't sure of the position that late on because of the risk of going into labour with a breech baby (she was feet down rather than bum first so not possible to deliver naturally before she was turned).

Heartbeat is a clue (if it's low likely to be head down, high likely to be breech) but having said that my daughter's heartbeat was always clearer higher up - something to do with her position apparently. So scanning is the only real way to know!

Good luck - I really hope baby is head down for you! If it helps, I didn't find the ECV anywhere near as bad as people had led me to believe and it was definitely worth it for a natural birth. x
