how far along should i be to ring up and book in with a midwife we have a bit of a shortage where i live so i hear the book up really fast?

is 5 weeks to early to book with one? i dont want to ring up and they laugh at me for ringing to early.

Not at all, book an appt on confirmation of pregnancy, she will just give you an appt at a date its more suitable to see you like weeks 8-10 :) If you don't book now and wait you might not get an appt at the time she does need to be seeing you :)

If there's a demand for them CALL RIGHT NOW and leave a message!

Here's there's many areas where if you don't call the minute after you POAS you're screwed and even if you call right away you're still not gauranteed a spot. They usually collect the information of everyone who's interested then 2-3 weeks later they'll get back in touch with everyone to let them know if they're in or if they've been wait listed. Repeat clients get preference, then new clients who are planning homebirth, then the remaining spots are given to new clients in the order in which they called in.

I rang up as soon as I found out at 6 weeks and she booked me in for this thurs which will make me 9 weeks x

I first seen my midwife at 4w+6d and then again two days later at 5w+1d :) said normally they dont see people till after 7 weeks, but if you explain youve had a loss she might see you earlier x

My doctor passed my number on to my midwife

anyway i would ring asap as she might not see you straight away anyway xx

i went t see doc on wednesday at 7 weeks and he told me to book in with midwife so i can get app for when i'm 10 weeks.

with my last pregnancy i went to midwife at 5 weeks but she is misrable and moaned at me :( and guess what i have her again this time

It's not too early. I would call right now to make sure you are in. Good luck!

I rang to make my appointment when I was 7 weeks gone and my appointment is not until I am just over 12 weeks!

I did try and explain to the receptionist that I had a miscarriage 10 weeks ago so was pretty anxious but she was having none of it!!

I'd phone ASAP if I was you hun xxx

I am only five weeks and I plan to call docs this friday when I am 6 weeks. Same as u I fear being turned away and told its too early. When I had DS the Doc said to me if u done a test and its positive there is nothing else we can do!

Told me I will hear from then through a letter.

I believe I did at 12 weeks have my scan.

Everywhere is different tho, so assume if its hard to get a m/w I wud do so now!

I just saw your other thread. That's great that you got a quick appointment.
