midwifery team think i might have pre-eclampsia.. i'm only 21 :(

so i gave a reading of 146/99 generally quite high.. i was only meant to go in for my 34 week bloods [although running abit behind with dates] to find i had plus protein in my urine, the midwife also looked at my hands and diagnosed them as swollen and puffy, so then i had a lovely 7 hour wait upstairs in the day assessment ward, bloods are ok, but bp still relatively high and i've been prescribed a low dose of methyldopa (?) - which can apparently cause high counts of depression after delivery. feel so tired and crappy, and it took an extra hour and a half to recieve my discharge notes..

anyone else been on these meds? they're going to review me shortly to see if i need a higher dose or whether i can come off of them completely.

only positive from today was that babys measuring right and her bp was spot on which im thankful for..

I had Pre e with my first baby(i was also 21) howver age is only a risk factor if you are below 20 or above 35, other than that they don't really know what brings it on other than a faulty placenta, genetics, pre existing health conditions etc......I was not medicated but spent alot of time in assessment, and with consultants, but all turned out great, and i had a healthy 8lb baby at 38weeks natural labour!!! Try not to stress as 35weeks is a great gestation if there were any problems. Make sure you speak to ur m/w about your concerns regarding the meds as there may be others that are suitable. x x x

At least its been caught and being treated, not to long to go now
