Hi ladies, im nearly 8 weeks now, saw my doctor at 3 weeks and he basically just took my dates and told me to wait to hear from a midwife at 6/7 weeks.

I hadnt heard from anyone and have had no tests done whatsoever (the doc just said if the test was positive thats all that matters) so rang the surgery today and was told by the receptionist that i dont hear from the midwife until 10/11 weeks?! is this correct?
because i thought im supposed to have blood tests etc done?
if i dont hear from her til 11 weeks am i just going to be booked in for a 12 week scan straight away??

I have had no symptoms so my pregnancy doesnt even feel real and i just feel like ive got to wait another month to find out if im still even pregnant! and havnt even told my family yet because i needed confirmation. :-(

so confused can anyone shed some light please.....

sorry for the long post!
xxxx

What tends to happen is the midwife would contact u either my phone or letter, most likely phone. and arrange to come round your house to fill in a couple of forms and then she'll book ur blood n urine tests. If no one contacts u by ur 9th or 10th week arrange an appointment urself. tke care x

You should have an 'booking in' appointment with your midwife at 8 weeks, you normally ring and make this apt yourself, then she will go through everything with you, test dates etc. Have you got ur green notes yet? thats got loads of info in. Then you should recieve a letter with your 12 week scan date on. Hope this helps a little x

Just seen the post above mine, maybe it depends on where you live, but i read that you have to have ur booking in apt by 10 weeks x

hi ladies thanks for the info.
i have had no letters, notes or anything yet that is why im a little confused. i just keep being told to wait but i dont even know what for! Am thinking of changing docs anyway because they have never been the most helpful bunch!
xx

Yep, the process depends on where you live. I saw docs 2 weeks ago. He set the ball in motion. A week or so after seeing the GP I had 2 letters. One from the hospital about my booking in appointment with consultant at 12 weeks where I'll have scan and bloods will be taken. The other letter from my local team of midwives about my first midwife appointment at 18 weeks.
