I'm trying to decide which type of birth control to use while breastfeeding. Condoms are out because I have a latex allergy. I have prescription for Micronor (mini-pill) and an appointment to get Mirena inserted, now I just have to decide which I want. I would really prefer the mini-pill, but I've read some stories about it decreasing milk supply for some people.

For those of you that have used the mini-pill, did it decrease milk supply? If so, how long did it take for you to see a reduction in your supply? Was it significant enough that you stopped taking it? Were you able to get your milk supply back up?

Anyone willing to share their experiences with Mirena? This is not my first choice, but I guess I have to consider all my options. Maybe I just need to hear some positives to make me feel better about it.

Thanks for your help :flower:

i've been taking the mini-pill for about a month now i've not had any problems with my milk supply :)

I'm about 6 weeks into taking the mini pill and am having no problems with it at all. I am super sensitive to hormonal BC generally. I can take the combined pill but obviously not at the moment due to worries about decrease in milk supply. In the past I have had both the depo injection and mirena. The depo did not agree with me at all, and I managed to keep the mirena for almost a year.

So far, I would say that the mini pill has been the best form of BC for me. The bonus is that if I do have any side effects, I can stop taking it, where the injection or the mirena are more troublesome in this area.
