Mini updates: 40 weeks + 6 days. Induction tomorrow or next day

My doctor says this is his process and would like me to join in it, which I will do. I'm going to be 41 weeks on saturday and he wants me to be induced at that time, sunday at the latest. He said the risks are in my and babies best interest to do the induction at that point. He said that my cervix and babies positioning is excellent and I'm a really great candidate for induction. He thinks they'll just break my waters and MAYBE put me on a drip. That's much better than what I thought.

As well, he did another sweep on me, but this will be the third, so I'm not sure it will do anything. I'm really hoping and crossing my fingers the sweep will kick in before any thought of induction nears. My dh is thrilled that we'll have bubs by this weekend, he was really pleased with the appointment.

I asked about an ultrasound and he said that with good movements and a good heart rate that it wasn't needed. Unless I was going to wait another four or five days, then he would do a scan.

Goodluck, i am seeing my doctor today and really tempted to ask for a sweep. When did you get your first sweep, and do we call it sweep in Canada or stretching the membrane lol! I dont want to use BnB slang on my doctor lol!

LOL!!! I asked for a "sweep" from my doctor and he said, "a what???". So it's funny that you said that. I made the hand motions and said, "You know, when they go in and mess with the cervix". I think they call it "stripping the membranes" here. I had my first one at 38 weeks +5 I think? Second was a week later and then again today.

Thanks for the support girls, I really hope this does the trick. I'm desperate to avoid induction, but glad that there's a plan in place now. For once I don't feel like I'm going to be pregnant forever!!!

Thank you! I'm quite excited, a little scared I must admit. It's been such a long road I can't believe I'm HERE - NOW! I've been a big talker about labour this whole time, figuring if I didn't think about it I couldn't worry about it. Now I'm a little nervous and realizing I'm more scared that I would like to be. Doing my best to let nature take it's course and have faith in my body and my bubs.

Haha! i knew the word 'sweep' might be foreign here, i went to the doctor and it was a minimum of 2 hour wait and no guarantee since he was delivering an hour out of the city. I changed my appointment to tomorrow morning so i will bring up 'stripping membrane'

Baby decided to ignore marching orders from the sweep yesterday. It's been almost 24 hours. I cramped all day and that was that. Hoping and praying today is the day. I really want to avoid an induction if I can.

Day 6, come on bubs!!!

Very mini, inconsequential update. I may have just lost my plug. That's HUGE given I'm so over due with not much other action going on. Had to at least announce that if nothing else!

I just came back from my doctor, he couldnt do my sweep, my cervix is closed he said he can only do it if the cervix is open because he has to go into the cerix to do the sweep/ strip the membrane. Aargh, this is the 4th week of him checking my cervix and nothing is happening same thing every week. If no baby by next Thursday then i will be schedulled for induction on the 16th, feels like a lifetime from now.

Walked the mall today and just got home, feeling fine and dandy as usual! Now I'm just tired from all the walking!

Del, any plus loss is significant at our time! That's how I look at it!!

SRT, your doing great! LOTS of time before the 16th to worry about induction. I know exactly how you feel though. My cervix has been 1.5 - 2cm dilated for four weeks now with no change. Open enough to do the sweeps, but not progressing, obviously. I think you may be surprised what can happen this week, I'm hoping for you that's the case!

Thanks, i hope i get a good suprise this weekend. The question is it possible to go into labour with a closed cervix? After doctors appointment i went to the mall too i was there for 3 hours, had lunch and came home. I am exhausted, i only bought probiotics lol! I can't believe how expensive gymboree and please mum is, i went in there and couldnt pick up anything.

Your cervix can certainly dilate really quickly. So that's totally possible. Maybe yours will just turn on one of these days and all will go from there.

I have a wicked headache right now, not sure why. I don't want to take anything though. I might be going in for my induction tomorrow.

Bubs has been super active tonight, I did have a lot of sugar, so maybe that's why. I had massive pains a few minutes ago. Husband asked if it was a contraction, I said I didn't know!! When bubs moves so much he bashes my cervix and I wonder if that's what it is about. Feeling better now.
