Hi ladies, Firstly apologies for the looooong post! I have just found out that I have miscarried at 9 weeks. This has left me feeling devastated. However my upset is now turning to worry about future pregnancies. Whilst having the transvaginal ultra sound that confirmed the lost the radiographer pointed out a fibroid in my uterus. She was do matter of fact about it, "there's your bladder and there's your uterus and the linng oh and there's a little fibroid". I was like wait "a fibroid what's that's should I be worried?!" Her reply"no no they're just little pockets of hardening in the muscle and this wouldn't have caused the miscarriage". Having lots of other things to worry about and not knowing much about them, I accepted her diagnosis. However since I have started to come to terms with the loss I have been reading about fibroids. It seems they are linked to increased risk of miscarriage and various other pregnancy related issues. So why was she not worried. Because I'm certainly worrying. All I want to know is should I be worrying? Does anyone else suffer from fibroids? Any positive pregnancy stories that might give me some hope? (And if you're still reading, thank you!)

So sorry for your loss. :( I also found out I mc this week. We have a firefly loss group, feel free to join.

As for fibroids, I can't offer any information as I haven't been told I have them but I would ask your dr about them. They will be able to offer more information and advice. Google is not our friend lol. Trust me. I hope some posters on here can offer some stories to you though.

Hi there, following a mc in October I am now pregnant again. Had an early scan after Christmas and the sonographer said I had a fibroid. News to me as I have never been told this before. He said they do not interfere with pregnancy. I haven't googled and just taken his word. I guess if you had multiple or big ones then it could cause issues but I wouldn't worry at all.

Hey there

I wouldn't worry about fibroids. A lot of women have them, most just don't know because for the most part cause no issues. They tend to grow during pregnancy. I never knew I had one, till I was pregnant with my first, it got bigger throughout the pregnancy.. the only issue I had was the baby used to kick it and it hurt! :)

Based on the comment of the sonographer, sounds like there is only 1 little one, I wouldn't worry at all. I've had 2 successful pregnancies and the fibroid gets bigger and bigger... it's never bothered me. You could ask where the fibroid is located in your uterus, this could be useful because for me my fibroid is low and near my cervix, and wouldn't allow me to dialate, and thus I needed a c-section. As my doc explained it they are just masses, and are not flexible. So all in all no big deal at all.

Sorry for your loss.

Kim

Thanks Kim. This is informative thanks. I went back to the hospital for blood tests so I asked the nurse about it as it's really been playing on my mind. The fibroid (of which there is only one) is 8mm and by all accounts pretty small. From what the nurse explained it will probably get smaller as the hormone levels decrease. I'm feeling a lot less worried. Just looking forward to the bleeding stopping and trying again :) :) x

Wow only 8 mm I wouldn't worry at all mine is over 4 cm!!!
