My lo has just turned one and had his MMR vaccine on Friday, we had a pretty rough weekend, feeling quite hot, not sleeping at night, and being generally a moody baby. His temp is now normal but he has a scabby rash all over his face which is now spreading to his hands and feet. :(

Has anyone else come across this? If so is there anything I can put on his rash or is it best left alone?

I haven't but maybe give the surgery or a pharmacist a call for advice.

We've just had this with DS. It is possible for them to get a very mild form of measles from the vaccine, resulting in exactly the symptoms you've described. If you google image search it you can compare, and maybe best to contact your health visitor or Dr if you still feel uneasy about it. DS's rash wasn't raised or irritated, just like a load of tiny red freckles over his whole body. However his face was more like a really bad teething rash and looked hit and sore. It only lasted a couple of days, however DH and I somehow managed to get it also!

As above, my daughter had a light, full-body rash (no facial rash) that took about two weeks to go down. It's really normal, I'd just keep the rash moisturized. You could try putting some Sudocrem on at night if it's bothering him.

My lo had a rash about 2-3 weeks after her mmr. Started on face and torso then spread down the limbs but was pretty much gone after 3 days. Wasn't dry or scabby though and didn't bother her. I don't think she even noticed. I did put a bit of baby lotion or aloe vera gel on just in case.

How is your baby now?

To be honest, this sounds like hand, foot and mouth rather than a vaccine reaction. It's perfectly plausible that your LO could have picked it up in the waiting room.

My LO had it recently and had everything you describe - a fever of 38-39 C for a day and a night, then a rash of blistery scabs on her face which spread to her feet and hands. Subsequently, she also got it on her palms and the soles of her feet, and worst on the backs of her knees randomly. I've included some pictures so you can compare.

It's totally harmless and generally clears up after a few days. My LO's blisters just went yellow and fell off. I expect your baby is totally fine now. :)

Thank you ladies :) yes Meet it looked exactly like that but mainly on his face around his mouth, cheeks and ears. He is much better in himself but still has faint marks.
