You may remember I told you about the prem baby in hospital and his alarm was going off and no nurse came and the visitors had to call someone and they had to resuscitate baby as he gad stopped breathing.

Well today I got told that a girl had just lost a baby on the toilet in hospital at 25 weeks as they didn't examine her and just gave her antibiotics for a water infection.
And they nearly gave my friend that's there now the wrong medication that she is allergic too.
Also in this same week they lost a baby at 35 weeks and the mother is still in intensive care I'm not 100% on that story. But imam scared stiff to give birth here now. Especially as 3 years ago when DD was born there they overdosed her with antibiotics at a two days old she is fine but they went through all the things that could have gone wrong liver failure ect

What would you do?

If I were you I would try and find a different hospital to go to even if more of a drive.

I think I will. I'm not sure how I go about it though with me having had strep b and my midwives and consultants are there and all my notes ect and I may have left it too late now. I'm worried a bit though scared About the what ifs x

I thought I would ask on her as I though maybe things happen in other hospitals too and it just the way it is.

Although you know of a few bad cases I am sure they are very rare. At least you know what to look out for and if you're not happy with something while you're in there or feel uncertain, ask for a second opinion. Also, make a detailed birth plan to take in with you and make sure they stick to it. It's not nice when you don't feel at ease with hospitals but as you said, you've probably left it quite late now. Hope everything turns out ok for you xxx

Are you in the US? I am asking b/c I recently put a post on craigslist asking about the hospital. I got a ton a replys...and 95% were positive. Made me feel a lot better. You could always try that. I am new to this area and had no idea about the hosp. so I posted in "baby and kids".

I am thinking you are in the UK, but here in the US you can look up hospital grades/ratings and see what you're dealing with. Where did you hear these latest stories about the 25 week baby and the 35 week baby? I mean was it word or mouth legitmate sources...maybe you can look into these cases if they've been in the media and try to figure out if there were some extenuating circumstnances that lead to this happen so you can reassure yourself that they are doing a good job...if it really seems like they are doing a poor job, can you maybe speak with your consultant or midwife and tell them how you feel? Lastly, I bet it is possible to switch and get your records switched over, I'm assuming there's some sort of regulation that lets you choose your hospital no matter how far along you are.
