Hi girls. I'm having a tough time with morning sickness :( I'm not even 7 weeks, and I've been having it for almost 2 weeks already. With my first, it didn't end until 13 weeks. I feel awful most of the day-- no throwing up, but constant ache in my belly. I'm able to eat small amounts at a time, but it's always a struggle to get it down. I'm exhausted. I talked to my midwife, and she prescribed me Vistaril, which helps but it knocks me out. I can't take it because I have a 2 year old to care for. I'm hoping she'll prescribe me Zofran soon, that seems to have less side effects.

I've tried all the non-pharmacological remedies, such as ginger root tea, accupressure wrist bands, ginger ale, saltines, vitamin b6 supplements. Nothing is working. And my husband has been away for work (Coast Guard) for the past few weeks, and won't be home until next Sunday. It's just so hard, I feel like crying :nope:

I needed to vent, anyone else out there struggling with morning sickness?

sends you a hug I know exactly how you feel. With my son I had hyper emesis and I was given Zofran so when I called OB and told him about my throwing up he auto sent a prescription in for me. Keep in mind that can make you drowsy as well. I started throwing up about 2-3 weeks ago. which I hate! Nothing homeopathic works for me either..

:hugs: Sorry you're feeling so sick! Hope you get your med switched and you start to feel better sooner than last time!

Thank you ladies :hugs: It's depressing thinking this will be my reality for at least another 6 weeks or so... I try taking it one day at a time, but sometimes, I can't help but feel completely overwhelmed. We're a military family living in Maine, and our families are in New York. I have no help here (family wise), but I do have friends that are a strong support. I just want to crawl up on the couch and wake up in 7 weeks!

I'm so sorry hun :(

Unfortunately I think all anti-nausea meds will cause major drowsiness. I have in the past been on phenagren and then zofran after a surgery. They both knock me out. I have been getting some serious on/off nausea as well and am hesitant to even ask for meds since I stay home with my 19 month old, so I hear you!!

One thing I can suggest...is to try a different prenatal. The reason I mention this is I always take mine before bed (easier on the tummy) and the other day I accidently missed a dose, the next day still a bit nauseous but not nearly as bad. Then that night I took a different brand of prenatal and today I've pretty much not had any nausea. Not sure if there is a relevance, or if it just worked out that way, but it may be worth a shot?

it's only been a few days for me but I can't imagine 6 weeks or more of this honestly. I have been in bed most of the day and still queasy. My DH doesn't seem to understand that morning sickness doesn't always mean you are throwing up constantly. It's been miserable for me and I can't seem to get him to understand why I don't feel like sitting at a bar watching football all day. There is something comforting about having your own house and bathroom if you do indeed get sick ... :(

It's true, for the past week I haven't wanted to leave my house. My poor DD (2 and a half yrs old), has been so patient with me. I feel so bad about laying on the couch all day, but there's nothing else I have the energy for, and I feel like I need to be near the fridge 24/7 because I'm 'hungry/nauseous' every half hour and have to force myself to eat something. It's just awful. I guess I should be thankful that I'm not throwing up, I'm sure it's worse in the long run if that would happen. But, there's nothing easy about feeling like it ALL the time :(

Ugh, what a pity party I'm having :(

Candice- have you tried eating/drinking something sweet (or sour/salty) before you get out of bed? Try laying there for 5-10 mins after you finish then get up and head straight to the kitchen for more food. THat's the only thing that's been working for me and the only days I've been sick all day were ones that I hopped out of bed with nothing.
Sorry you're feeling so down
PS: I was told Pepsi and saltines are a miracle while still in bed (even though you're supposed to keep low on the caffeine- I think it helps get your body in gear)

Hi MissFox-- you know, funny you should say that because this morning, I tried that for the first time, and so far, I feel a little better than I normally do. It was hard to eat something salty so soon after waking, making I'll try the unsalted saltines next time, but it did seem to help a little!

Hi, I hear ya.

I've been miserable with sickness for weeks now. I have barely been at work in 3 weeks, the doctor had to sign me off as I'm losing weight due to sickness and have barely left my bed in weeks. I've tried going out, on Saturday night I tried going shopping but I ended up almost passing out and being sick outside the shop on front of loads of people, very embarrassing. It started off with not being able to eat and feeling constantly sick, it then moved on to actually being sick very often at all times of the day, especially if I move about. If I lie down it isn't so bad. Even going in the kitchen sets me off most days and I end up being sick just by looking in the fridge or clearling leftover plates. It's yuck. I'm constantly tired, weak and exhausted. I feel so bad about having to take so much time off work, but I just cannot be productive at the moment.

:hugs:

I have just been signed off work as I am just either feeling constantly sick or actually being sick. It is really getting me down actually. I am constantly hungry but feel sick as well if that makes sense and whatever I eat I know its probably going to come back again in about 20 mins!

I waited 11 months to see those lovely two lines on a hpt and now I feel a bit fed up as I am not enjoying this so far at all. All in a good cause though ay!!! :crib:

xx

It's true, I completely relate. I always thought that when we got pregnant again, I would be so happy- and I was- until I started feeling this way. I am the same with feeling constantly hungry yet sick at the same time. And always have a salty/sour taste in my mouth. It's really depressing me to be honest :( I feel so bad for my DD, who is stuck in the house with me because I can't get off the couch for long. I called my husband today (he's away for work, won't be back until Sunday), and cried my eyes out. I just can't take it anymore :(

The first week I was sick I found myself eating every 45 minutes! It was the only thing that got me through the day and I'm still drinking something before getting out of bed- I don't want to risk thinking I've been feeling better and then hvae a day of being sick all day long.
