so my gro-egg broke, and now my tomy digital plus monitor has broken too.
so i took them both back to mothercare with receipts, expecting to have them exchanged and they said as we bought them 6 months ago (on the baby plan so obviously we bought them before baby was born!) they couldnt do anything and i'd have to contact the companies direct. Neither have replied to me and im now stuck with £100's worth of broken crap?!
im so annoyed, the monitor wasnt cheap and weve had to go out and buy another one. weve only been using it for a month! :(

what can i do? ive never heard this mothercare 6 month policy before and ive even seen a woman bring back a dress she bought a year ago that had 'been worn once and she'd noticed a rip' and they changed it there and then!

That surprises me, we had a precious bear rocker from Mothercare which we'd had over 6 months (a present we got before DS was born). Anyway, the straps frayed to such an extent that one of the straps snapped. OH took it back to Mothercare and we got vouchers to cover the cost.

It's not your responsibility to send it back to the manufacturer, it's the shop you bought it from because your contract is with them xx

The items must be fit for purpose and your's aren't. Tell them if they don't sort it you will be getting advice from trading standards xx

Where i work when not on maternity they contact the manufacturer/supplier and send the item back for you. You usually get a 1 yr manufacturer warranty on most items. It should be part of mothercares customer service to help you as a lot of companies dont like to be contacted direct - some will even tell you to go back to where you bought it! The product can sometimes come from a supplier, and not the company who made it, so what are you going to do then??! I would take it back and demand they help you, stating that you have already tried to contact them with no luck, and that it is out of order for them to expect you to pay that amount of money not that long ago and then be left with dud items. Good luck.

thanks ladies :) i thought so!
after ringing mothercare who had never heard this 6 month rule, my OH just took the monitor in to try again and at first two people refused, he asked to speak to the manager who then was happy to return it and said the gro-egg could be returned too.
so after all the trips weve done and having to buy another monitor were not happy at all, shes advised us to put in a complaint about the staff weve dealt with and to see what happens but in all honesty id like a bit of money back as we live almost half an hour from the store!

sorry but all i thought when i read this was
MOTHERCARE STRIKES AGAIN.
is there another store local to you that you can try going into as i would not suggest phoning there customer service if you can avoid it, maybe they will be a bit more helpful
