Me and my hubby were talking the other day about what other people call muslin squares.

I always worry about calling them muslin just in case I accidently say muslim which I done once in Tesco when asking where they were. actually felt quite bad about it, just in case I had offending anyone who was listening.

We call them Do-Rag.
Hubby has got quite a few people at his work place calling muslin squares do-rags as well, he's even managed to get one of his work mate's wife calling them do-rag.

So what do you call muslin squares?

In our house we call them 'snugglies' as my DD uses them as her comforters and has done since she was a newborn! :haha:
Before that though I just called them muslins.

Ive never used them. If I was asking for them in a shop id just call them muslin squares. I work in a nursery and a lot of children use them as comforters. The most popular name for them at nursery seems to be snuggies or muzy's.

We call them muzzys. My mum keeps calling them Muslims :dohh: bless her!

I call them muslins.

I wouldn't worry if it slipped out as Muslim one time though - it's only the same as any other mix up, like saying drawer instead of door or something. Muslim isn't an offensive word, it's a word with emotional context to many people but shouldn't be offensive.

I call them muslins and I'm a Muslim myself but wouldn't get offended if someone called it a Muslim sqaure by mistake as I now they probably meant a muslin lol

Muslin

I use to be a nursery worker and muzy's or muslins was what I always heard.

I call them muzzy's, my oh wasn't sure what I was going on about when I first said we needed to add them to our list! I just got a really funny look

I've been here for years and still not 100% sure what they are - I always assumed they were receiving blankets in the UK?

Call them muzzies. Most useful thing ever - sick clear up, make shift bib, boob cover, anything. My sister even used one as a temporary nappie once.

I call them muslims (always have as i just say it.wrong)....why is saying a word offensive?? Muslims are muslims??

Muzzies, muzzy ect is a term used in offence to muslims as far as im aware??x

It's not a receiving blanket, it's these https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=m...nxhQezuYCABw&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAQ&biw=1366&bih=597 Perhaps the closest thing America has is burp cloths but not sure what it's called in Canada

I never knew that but you're right according to urban dictionary.

I know a few members of a certain well known group regularly in the media that use them terms so as pretty sure it was used as a term of offence, never knew it was on urban dictionary

I've never heard of muzzies.

Just had a look on urban dictionary about it lol!

I couldnt imagine a slip up saying muslim would be be offensive.

They are Muslin thats what I would call them. They are made out of completely different material that the actual Do-Rag.. Which I wouldnt use that term as I dont like the origination of the word

I thought a do-rag was something people wore on their head to protect hair?

Yes, over here they are closest to burp cloths and that's what I call them. Very useful for everything! :)
