my 5 month old son is wheezy and coughs day and night

my 5 month old son has had a cough for 5-6 week now and i wheezy all the time, i have taken him to the doctors twice but when i arrive he seems to get better and doctors say there is nothing wrong hes up alot of the night coughing and there is asthma on both side of the family in babies and toddlers hes also 20lbs which i no is slightly over weight but he is very long for his age and i no over weight babies can sometimes have slight breathing problems but i think its more then him being slightly over-weight
has onyone else experienced this? or no what it could be?

It could be allergies hun. Try using a humidifier. Or take him into the bathroom and turn the shower on hot and close the door and sit in there with him for a bit. That has helped my son.

go and get him checked out by a dr again - try and see a different one to last time!!

i took him back yesterday and the same as usuall h gets better when i getthere aint they still said there nohing wrong i have seen 3 different doctors now

The coughing that you described is supposed to be a strong indicator of asthma. I am very surprised that your doctor isn't taking this more seriously given your family history and the symptoms your son is presenting. Any chance you can bypass this doc and get a referral straight to a specialist?

Do you have pets? Perhaps the fresh air on the way to the doctor's is what is clearing it up. Perhaps if you do have pets send them to stay somewhere else for a few days and see if that helps. Just a thought.

Have they even listened to his chest? My son spent months vomiting every morning from over-producing snot. Same as you, always seems fine at the dr. Despite this he was prescribed a light inhaler dose to help reduce the mucus production. Neither if us has asthma. It seems crazy that given the length if time, symptoms you've described and your history they're doing nothing about it.
