I mean I cannot even leave the room without him screaming bloody murder. Is this normal and how do I stop it? Is this my fault? DH says I coddle him too much. I love my baby but I dread needing to do anything right now.

My lo does this sometimes I think they do go through seperation anxiety at this age unfortunately. I have been playing peek a boo a lot with him which helps as he knows I will come back when I go out of the room. I also try and distract him with something before I leave the room. No other advice I'm afraid :-(. Hopefully they will grow out of it soon x

i second the peek a boo, we started with thinks over his face and now when i leave the room i pop back to or three times. do you go to any baby groups or anything, ?

You're not cuddling your baby too much! The opposite is true in fact, lots of physical contact and consistent responding to their needs (including the need for closeness) helps babies get more independent as they get older. So cuddle away!
The separation anxiety will come and go over the next few years, not a huge amount you can do about it unfortunately. But it'll pass.

Sounds very familiar!

As Amygdala said it comes and goes. I often have to prepare dinner with one boy attached to the back of my legs and one hanging off the front...

Totally normal - you haven't "caused" this other than being his mother and therefore the object of his separation anxiety. It's a phase they all have to go through and it will pass, though they have a few phases of separation anxiety in baby and toddler years.

We did the peek a boo thing round the door too which I think helped a bit. Otherwise it's a case of taking lo around thr house with you for now.
