:saywhat:Owchie !! I was expecting the worse thought it was going to be excruciating pain, but it was okay, I felt the dye going through felt like v bad period pain but only for a minute or two, It was very quick luckily for me it was clear, so we as a coouple are unexplained I hope my next appointment brings me closer to treatment we have been trying 3 years.

" ive had to have my vag looked at by a total stranger twice he didnt even buy me a drink!"

does anyone know the rules about bd after, I am ovuating today, not sure if the egg might have been flushed away or not?? :wine:

Had mine two weeks ago, i am in the same boat, it was clear, so unexplained! I also had a strange man look down there which was probably the worst part of it too!

I was given 4 months of Clomid to try.... hope it works!

what will your next step be?

Im not sure have an appointment with the FS on Tuesday next week I got the impression iui will be my next option, I am just hoping the funding wont take to long, Im not very patient!! I ovulate on my own, do you??

Yes I ovulate on my opwn, but FS insisted Clomid was worth a shot, so doing 4 rounds then going back in January.. my 21 day progesterone was on the low side though, so maybe thats why clomid was given not sure... i am really hoping it works, if not i guess injectables and IUI... I am not very patient either, waiting for this appointment has been hell! GL Hun x

I haven't had HSG yet...waiting for AF in the next few days so that I can start having my blood drawn and if we don't get answers from the lab work our next step is HSG (also waiting to hear back about my US). However I have heard people, including my NP, say that a lot of people have gotten their BFP right after HSG. I don't know how soon after having it you can BD but if you are ovulating, I would go for it!!

FX!!!

Hi there I am waiting for my Hsg, So glad it wasn't too painful. I thought you had to abstain for the cycle you have the Hsg as you have a higher chance of ectopic pregnancy, but if they didn't mention it I'm sure it will be fine, Good luck I really hope you get Lucky this month (give us all some much needed hope) xxx

They just told me not to have sex for 24 hours after the HSG. The doc also told me about the (VERY slightly) higher chance of getting pregnant the 1 or 2 cycles after an HSG due to a cleansing kind of effect... She did say lots of people think it's an old wives tales but said she has seen her fair share of "HSG babies" as she called them, haha

i'm due to have mine done just have to call the hospital when my next AF comes to arrange it, so will probably be this month sometime. Been dreading it for months :( got my next app with the FS on the 1st of november so got time yet but havent seen her since june, so long time wondering what's wrong. Doing numerous blood work, US's and then my HSG this month, but at least she will have all the info when i see her next. Apparently my pro was very low last time they tested so may be put on clomid but lets wait and see what the HSG shows. Oh and they found polyps on my US :( Feels like a long way off until i have my BFP!

I had a horrible HSG experience. My doctor and the nurse told me that I would only experience mild to moderate cramping. The painful part is not having the catheter inserted. What no one tells you is that very painful part is having your cervix is clamped! I took 600mg of ibuprofen an hour before and it still felt like someone was trying to ring out my uterus. I was very crampy for the rest of the day and had lots of sharp pains.

Do you normally cramp badly during your periods? I was told that the pain will be similar to your period cramps, as your body will act in a similar way. So i just wondered if your normally get cramps, as I don't, so thought I would be ok

Booking my HSG when my monthly friend shows, I'm happy to hear they don't advise against BD'ing that cycle. Hope my goes just as smoothly and here's hoping for an "HSG baby" for ya. :)

I will be having an HSG next week. I always have awful crampy periods and I have two bad experiences about my uterus, one was D&C after my MMC - I was under anesthesia but I woke up with AF cramps that lasted for more than 3 hours despite all pain killers until I got up off bed. The other was, next period after the D&C was extremely heavy, my dr (who is my aunt) inserted a canula to empty the uterus which resulted in cramps that I never experienced before. Lasted only for a minute but I had to cry. Now, I think my HSG experience will not be pleasant at all. But who knows?

My HSG was EXCRUCIATING! I was in pain for 30 minutes afterward. The catheter I barely felt (very mild cramp) and the clamping of the cervix I barely felt as well. So, at that point I thought this wasn't going to be so bad. I was actually pretty calm. Until the dye was injected!! I felt him increase the pressure 3 TIMES!!! and each time I screamed more!! It only lasted like 1 minute if that, but afterwards my body was shaking because of the pain and I was laying in a fetal position crying on the table. The nurse was terrified lol

I had only a tiny bit of bleeding afterwards and a few days later I had this gunk coming out of me. It was like clumps of wet toilet paper/tartar. It was greyish purple in color and had some veins in it LOL!! Was GROSS! But, apparently that was the junk blocking my tubes so that made me feel better and explained the inability to get pregnant. I got pregnant that cycle but ended in chemical *sighs*. Now, I am just waiting for AF to show.

SO, that was my experience lol

Feeling blue tonight. I'm due to have my HSG tomorrow at 12, but still heavily bleeding and it's day 9 tomorrow so can't even re-arrange this month and now i don't think i will get a chance to have my HSG before the 1st of nov when i meet with the consultant to go though all my US and blood results to get a bigger picture and was meant to have the HSG and then the results for that in november too. Just wanted to go in november with all the results and fingers crossed find what was wrong, now I feel like i'm going without doing my side of the deal! :'(

I had my first one today..... holy crap, worst pain of my entire life! :(

I have had 4 HSG's in the past and the last 3 were very painful but this last one on August 30th was painless. My Dr numbed my cervix with lidocaine she said on the count of 3 cough hard and I did and she shot my cervix and did not feel the needle at all! Then she placed the tenaculum which is the clamp they use to hold the cervix in place did not feel that either. I would ask the dr to use lidocaine to numb you and tell you to cough hard on the count of 3. I am possibly going back and having another one done and see if they can open my tube with a wire called recanalization.

I have to schedule my HSG once AF gets here. Hopefully it is not too bad but I am going to call my doctor for some pain meds.

No, it was not that bad at all!
I think it depends on how it is done. Mr dr was very careful and he did not use a balloon catheter, he used a canula instead. As far as I can see on the film, the canula is not fully inserted into the womb. On the film, the fluid going through the natural path of the cervix can be seen.
Just at the end, I felt some cramps for 2 seconds when *I think* he increased the pressure of the fluid.
After the procedure, I got up and was ready to go home. I did not experience any cramps at all. The results are clear, I need to add, but I wasn't one of those lucky people who conceive that cycle.
