Well pleased to have my induction finally booked....
It's for next Sunday 19th..reason being i have GD & i'm on insulin.

Had my last scan today & he weighs 7lbs 10oz :haha:
But that dont bother me my other 3 were all 8lbs babies!

Really just looking for advice...been told i am having that tablet
thing placed inside...and wondered if anybody had any experience of it?

I've went into labour natrually with all 3 & somehow dreading induction!
I really wanna here some positive experiences if anybody has any

Thanks girls x

I was induced with both of mine, but I didn't have the tablet. I was straight onto pitocin. I'm sure you'll be great!

hey not got any advice...i'm just wondering same as you, i'l also be having prostin tablet inserted if my cervix hasn't softened already, then then morning after my water's will be broken and if that doesn't start my water's i'll go on a drip.

sorrry hun, when i was induced with my eldest child i had the gel put in and was put on the syntocinon drip xx

Thats what ive been told too...they will put one in early morn &
one at night if needed...then waters the next day if need be.
Obviously i hope i dont need all that & the first tablet will take effect :dohh:

I'v got to go in the at 5 in the evening to have one done, then if it's not worked by morning i'll have another :/ and that will be given 6hour's to work! so hopefully my cervix will have already softend or the first one work's

I had the pessaries with my angel daughter to induce my labour and only had one lot and went into labour quite soon after. As you have had previous children hopefully your cervix will already be soft and slightly dilated so it may work for you without needing any other intervention.

I am being induced this time once I reach 39 weeks if baby hasn't made an appearance by then and am hoping it goes as smoothly. x

sorry no advice, never needed induced...but i just wanted to say "goodluck" will be watching for your birth story and piccys when you get home and have the time..lol xx

Thanks hun....i plan to be home a few hours later!! All being well x

I was induced last Saturday and had the propess pessaries inserted, my cervix was so far back and closed they could barely feel it. I don't think that they thought the pessary would do much to get me in to hardcore labour(and this was my first baby) as they kept saying I'd be put on a drip a few hours after they'd broken my waters the next day(if they could) - BUT I only had one lot and started getting niggles/stomach cramps a few hours later that progressed through the night, by morning I was having contractions on and off and had pressure and back ache but bareable and I even had a walk around outside to help things progress. They check to see if your cervix has changed and if they can break your waters 24 hours after the first pessary if your waters havent already gone, they broke my waters 24 hours later at 2pm and my little girl was born at 5:36pm 3 hours later after a VERY fast labour and 10 mins pushing!

Wish you all the best and hope you have a positive experience too!

Thanks hun thats a pretty sucessful story
just what i needed to hear!
Sounds like all went well..really glad to hear that  x

I know I have to go into hospital 5pm to have the tablet thing inserted, then move me down to the labour ward at 9am to brake my water's if they can.

I have been induced with both my babies, the last one (2 weeks ago) I had propess but they didn't think it would work on it's own as I was only 37 weeks. It was inserted at midday, I was having period type pains throughout afternoon, at 9pm I asked for some paracetamol to help me sleep, by 10pm they hadn't given me any and pain wax much worse, I was 5cm dilated, took me to labour ward at 10.30pm and baby was born at 11.15pm!! Very quick, no instruments needed. Good luck. X

great storys in here

im due to be induced in 4 weeks. Ive been told i will have the tablets inserted and PRAYING they get my in labour. I believe by day 2 they will break waters if they can then a few hours later have to go on drip if hes not arrived!!!

Exciting stuff hey!!!! :)

I was induced with my first due to GD.

I had the tablet put in at 9am, though I had backache and period cramps all night before and was at 3cm and had been 2 the day before so I suspect I had started early labour. The tablet worked enough and I was moved into a labour room just after lunch and had my waters broken during the afternoon. Baby arrived 22.02

Thanks for this thread. I just got back from the dr. My due date is the 13th and I will begin the induction process that day due to GD. I've been told I will go into the hospital at 8 pm and will be given the hormone prostaglandin to help ripen the cervix. Then the following morning I will be given the hormone oxytocin to get the contractions going.

While I'm still hoping something will happen this weekend I'm not convinced. I'm effaced, but only 1 cm dilated and have been like this for the past two weeks with no progress.
