Hi everyone, I'm starting IUI #1 this cycle . I've been reading a lot of blogs and forums and watching a lot of youtube videos to help understand this whole process, and I still feel like there's so much uncertainty. Maybe many of you can relate.
I'm 31 and DH is 35. We've been TTC since we got married in December of 2014. In May, we decided to go to the doctor to make sure everything is ok. That's when we found out DH had a low sperm count and low motility. Also, I may or may not have PCOS (borderline). DH didn't take it too well, his brother and sister both in their 30s have 4 kids each and he just never thought it wouldn't be easy to have his own soccer team. The next month was an emotional time for us both and included lots of doctor visits, some of them for the purpose of getting a second opinion.
So the fertility specialist we chose has been urging us to go straight to IVF, but due to the drastic cost difference and some encouragement from DH's urologist we decided to try a round of IUI first, and this is where we are today. 9/23 was CD 1, I started follistim injections CD3. Today is CD6 and I had 20+ follicles on my right ovary and 15 on my left, non dominant. The nurse said that was "a lot", the doctor wasn't concerned enough to change anything.
I understand that statistically speaking this first round will not result in success, but sometimes I worry about DH being too hopeful.
