After spending 6 weeks looking down at my precious little man and telling his he's perfect, I've just been told what we all dread to hear.

His little heart murmur was checked out today, and it turns out he has 4 heart defects which together make up a condition called Fallot's tetralogy. This is a severe and complicated condition and requires surgery - possibly more than one operation. They were going to operate tomorrow, but his examinations showed it is not an emergency yet.

They have told us what to look out for in meantime, but op will be in a couple of weeks... Recovery could take a month, and it'll all happen a long way from home.

I am still in shock. Would do anything to take the condition from him and undergo surgery myself :(

If anyone has been through this I'd be keen to hear your experiences.

Big hugs honey xx

I can't offer an direct advice but my friends daughter has Fallots of you would like me to put you in touch with her.

I know heartline (online support group) has been and is a godsend to her.

On a final note your little one is most definitely still perfect 

Jo xx

Thanks ladies - he most certainly is perfect, you are right!

I don't really know what questions to ask... I guess I am most interested in success rates of ops and his likelihood of leading a full and healthy life. Also, recovery time after op - how long in hospital and can I stay too and continue to be his primary carer? I'll check out that online support group...

:hugs: How hard that must have been to hear. I just wanted to remind you just how fantastic medical science is these days. They perform miracles everyday. :hugs:

He is definitely still perfect!!!!! :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :flow:
