my LO keeps scratching her fufu...

Hi All,

Wandered if anyone could help me? I bath my daughter everday and just recently (for about the past week) she will not stop scratching her fufu when she is in the bath. Its got so bad she will play with her toys with one hand so she can scratch with the other.

Is is that it is something new to her or might she have an infection or something??

My LO has started doing this as well, not just in the bath but during nappy changes. Sometimes she grabs her foot instead so I think maybe it's a case of whatever her hand finds first!

I also thought infection but can't see any obvious signs of any

Is the soap you use perhaps irritating her?

thankyou both, i have just been putting water in the bath for the last few days but she just doesnt stop scratching!!

I let Bella have a nappy off time before bath for 5 mins and she quite often goes straight for her tuppy, she'll start off by having a scratch and full on pulling at it so i just move her hand away.

Maybe it's cos it's something new, as in, she knows she has hands/feet, so when she grabs it she's like ooo whats this?

Anna has been doing this during nappy change time when she is bare - but it is because she has had a bit of nappy rash down there the last week - could it be that?

Initially, I would take her to GP to rule out anything- otherwise, its pretty normal for them to touch their genital areas, my DD1 who is 3 used to do it, and I just left her to it(as long as hands were clean) as she was exploring her body and the different textures and sensations

Ellie pulls really hard down there during nappy off time. I just think she's found something new

Thankyou all, i did think it was probably because it was a new touch/sensation as she has her nappy on about 23 hours a day. I might mention it to the HV when she gets weighed next week. Thanks again all xx

Maybe she is used to having a nappy on so it's like a new part of skin she hasn't touched yet! If that makes sense.
Jake has only grabbed his willy once and didn't do it again !
