his foreskin is too tight, ive been docs a few times over this, he gets sore and cries when peeing, and they tell me to pullt he foreskin back when hes in the bath to stretch it... ive put him vitamin e oil on as well to help... but this weekend it literally just swelled up and went red and today i took him to another doctor and its infected. Poor little guy they gave him fucidic acid and said if in 3-4 days it wasnt clear then he would need oral antibiotics.

They mentioned cicrumsision a few months ago but then said they dont do it till the child is 6. TBH i really dont want him to have that done, but i dont want him to be in any pain right now... this is so hard

Oh no! I'm so sorry, that sounds awfully painful. I'd ask around, I'm sure they do it for medical reasons at any age. Surely there's no way they would let him be in pain and let it get infected for years to come??

thats the difficulty im facing, i dont want him to go through either options. im sure if i were to really push he would be able to have it done as he cant go on in pain like this but at the same time surely there must be another way

ive seen a few different docs already, and theyve all said the same. the infections come and go, and usually its when we dont do the stretchign that the problems start. His dad was working late most of last week and i simply cant handle dealing with his penis, i dont have one so i dont get it. They have said its so tight he cant pee properly (it balloons up when he pees)

i really dont want to circumsise him, its awful

Don't think of the circumcision as awful, I know it seems that way, but for you it's a fix to an awful problem that he's having now! Personally, the sooner its done, the less he will remember, and the quicker it will all be dealt with. I TOTALLY understand your not wanting to do it though, I'd hate to be in that position.

Ohh sweetie personally I would go for the circumcision - its such a tiny op and he wont even remember it - but the pain he is in now he does know about doesnt he.

I fcircumcision is the only option then I would do that I couldn't have my LO in that much pain if I knew there could be something done about it. Hope he feels better soon!x

I couldn't let my son go through pain every time he pees for the sake of a 2 minute op.

I would go for the circ. Obviously, it's not that big a deal over here and many boys are done at birth, but one of the reasons it is done is because of just such problems that can arise.
I'd much rather my son circ'd than suffering, especially since you have run into it being a problem for him.
Good luck. I also can't imagine any doctor making him wait when there are problems.

I know people say "its a 2 minute op" but its a life changing operation that cannot be undone and i dont think people should jump straight to a surgery for every solution.

My son was circumsized and never once cried from it. In fact, he was brought back to us after the procedure, fast asleep.
Plus, if this has been going on for a while and he is getting infections because the foreskin is too tight, no amount of antibiotics will correct the situation.
I believe every procedure should be thought out carefully and you need to decide what is right for him in the long run.

this is how i feel, but yesterday was so upsetting i felt so panicked my poor boy hes so good and i just hate seeing him feeling rough.

Oh had a look this morning and said he looks much better today so maybe i will give it another couple of months and if theres no improvement i will go back to doctors

Connah has a referal for a circumcision which we should be getting anytime now. He has the same problem as your LO...he isnt in any pain right now as he has had a week long course of meds for the infection but his penis still swells when he pees and sprays pee allover.

OH had the same condition as a child and was circumcised at the age of 3...it can run in the family apparently!

I couldnt see him in as much pain as he was with another infection so we know we have to get this done. Its this or he will suffer all his life xx

The only implication it may cause is less of a sensation when having intercourse or maybe pain if not using a condom.

anyway OP I did a quick google search and you'd be amazed at the amount of information out there to help with this problem without resulting in circumsion!

do you know what part of the foreskin is tight? the skin itself or the piece of skin that attached the foreskin to the penis (the frenulum)?

heres some link i found helpful, the first one even mentions some kind of ointment that helps the skin stretch but of course always always aska doctor about anything you read online before doing it.

hope some of this information is reassuring, Maybe give your doctor a call and talk over some of what you read and see if he has anything to add to what your doing.

Ive seen this problem before and its best not to touch it or stretch it as its actually doing it itself when it balloons. If you must absolutely touch it then make sure you wash your hands really well and then a hand sanitiser as cross infection is soo big in those areas and youll find the infection probably came from him touching it or even you prevously...
