My turn to have a rant.

I am super duper annoyed today. Went for my 16 week checkup, not only did I have to wait 40 minutes past appointment time. Half of that waiting time was spent standing up cos there were no seats to sit down as it was overcrowded. The place was sweltering hot probably 35 degrees and I thought I was going to pass out. When I got in to see the rude midwife she was not nice at all and bossy and rude and said I need to buy a vitamin D supplement. So I told her Im taking Sanatogen and all pregnancy vitamins have Vitamin D she said no it doesn't and had a go at me and I've just checked and it has 250% of rda. So if that is the case why would I need more? Then she ticked the wrong ethnicity for me on my diabetes test which could change something maybe? but if she checked my notes my ethnicity is clearly specified. Also she forgot to tick boxes relevant for me. She said she couldn't listen to the babys heartbeat cos its too small but everyone else who goes for their 16 weeks check said they heard it with a doppler. & if you can hear it on your home one she can hear it with her professional equipment. When I tried to lift the air of bitchiness by saying I wanted my baby on Valentines she was like so you want pain and torture on valentines then? You can't win with some people can you??? Sorry for essay I feel annoyed.

I'd be pretty pissed off after that too! What a horrible midwife :( you're right everyone gets doppler'd at a 16 week so either she just couldn't be bothered or they have some weird policy there...

Hope your next appointment is better :hugs:

aww thanks, Its meant to be the best maternity hospital in the U.K so what is that saying about our standards???? I'm seeing my GP on Friday and she is so lovely so i'll ask her to do what the midwife was supposed to do.

what a nasty woman, well youl get to hear your baby soon :) im still waiting to hear mine because of complications with doctors (they are so awkward) but youl hear it soon and some places dont let you hear it at all but saying its too small is silly, just ignore her and have a relaxing bath to cool yourself down and watch a good movie snuggled up on the sofa, make youself feel better :) ignore the negative people hun

She sounds like a right cow! I'd def complain about her as that is no way to treat someone :guns: Hope it works out better for you with ur GP hun :hugs:

Thanks everyone you all have the magic mummy words, this was the best place to rant.

Dump the midwife! Actually around here midwives are not a habit. You visit a doctor and then time comes and a doctor - may not even be the same one - delivers baby. Women do get them but it's not a regular thing. From what I have read on here that's not necessarily a bad thing

Seriously though, can you ditch the midwife?

we got to hear our baby heartbeat from 6 weeks, at 16 weeks she could easily use a doppler,we have been doing since last few weeks, get rid of her hun x

Well I was born on Valentines day and my mom was so happy I was born on that day. :) That woman doesn't know what she is talking about haha I am sorry :(

Sounds awful! My last appointment I waited for an hour and I said something to them. It's bull there are appointments for reason! Thats crazy about the doppler too. I got my first one in the doctors at 16 weeks but have been using my at home one since 10 weeks. Hopefully they shape up! :hugs:
