Ok I've just had Imogen weighed and she's on the 91st centile for weight. 3 Weeks ago she was between the 50th and 75th (50-and-a-half-th?)

The health visitor says that of a baby jumps 2 centiles it can be cause for concern... Does anyone have any experience with this?

I see baby's a preemie. Did they remember to adjust for gestational age?

Also, I wouldn't worry, maybe she's just catching up with what size she should have been, iykwim?

They said they'd only adjust until 42 Weeks gestational age then just carry on as of she was a term baby (I don't understand it)

I had the feeling she's just catching up too, plus her daddy is big so maybe she has big person genes

Not entirely sure, but I thought there was a different chart you used up to 42 weeks gestation, then you plot on the regular chart and drew an arrow pointing back to GA. So her current weight would be plotted at 12 weeks, then with an arrow pointing to the same weight but at 8 weeks. It tells you in the red book how to do it.

Robyn was 50-75th centile in the womb, but was 25th at birth due to being born at 38 weeks (so she was being compared to babies up to a month 'older' than her as the charts are for babies born between 37 and 42 weeks). She caught back up to 75th centile around 3-4 months old.

I just looked at the chart and of her age was adjusted she'd be 98th centile... I think? She was 75th on the premie chart at birth... This whole thing confuses me tbh

I shouldn't worry. You can't over feed a baby, so if she's gaining weight quick then she was meant to do it. You might find it was a growth spurt and she'll gain less quickly and drop a centile. Or maybe this is her new centile and she'll stick to it, who knows? But like I said, Robyn climbed from 25th to 75th and none of the HVs have batted an eyelid.

Thankyou :) my last hv said of she put on too much weight as a baby she'd end up obese as a child (I know that's a load of rubbish though!) I'm glad its nothing to worry about, tbh I'm sure she's gone through a growth spurt!
