hi everyone well just need advice i applied for a lovely 2 bedroom house on the council website. they sent me a application form out and asked for details with my birth certificate and pregnancy certificate. they said on letter i wont here nothing until around 28th i still not heared anything does this mean i have got the house and there doing all the checks? or i have been unsuccesful? i still not recieved my documents back either so is that good??
im going out my mind because i never gone for a council house before and im new to moving finally moving out of parents hosue at 21
thank you for anyone with information xxx

Hmm not too sure. I would give them a call just to check incase they have returned documents and they have got lost. Lol. They may tell you to wait until at least 28th though.

xx

not sure as all councils run differently, you could try ringing and saying you know you are not expecting to hear for a few more days but do you still need to look at other houses

see i want to but i dont want to start rinign and sounding pushy when they said 28th im just so impaient because i want to be settled in my new home with my fiance and wait for our baby to come :(

You could always wait and ring them on the 28th and see what they say. I know it's different for sifferent councils but do you place bids on available properties?

no its not bids hun its they but new builded houses on and u put your name down and if you got a chance they send a form out for u to fill which i already done

as a housing needs manager i would.say call but don't be pushy. they are such h busy departments and people are human so you may be at the bottom of a pile but deffo better to put your mind at rest xx

thank you i just dont want to rush. im high in list with me circumstatses which i dont want to discuss over internet. should i just wait

How do you find out about these new builds? I don't understand any of this.. I'm on the council list as me & OH don't live together and am desperate to move out before LO is here, but I don't get any house I bid on and they know I'm pregnant because they have a copy of my maternity certificate. :(

& in answer to your question, I would wait until after the 28th and then ring them!

under homelessness legislation you ave a right to be housed as a family unit so they should be making you a priority, it may be in the the private sector or temp accommodation but if there is nowhere you and your BF can live together then you have triggered the homeless duty of your Local Authority . x seek advice from CAB or Shelter xx

ring! im a housing officer and people ring all them time :haha: were used to it x
p.s uv made ur self intentially homeless if you move out of somewhere x

i Agree as a Housing needs manager people call all the time and as for intentionality Only if there is no reason for an applicant to leave..... Intentionality can only be on the basis of an act or omission on the clients part... ;0)
