Sorry posting a lot today lol

when i saw the midwife she said my blood count was 13.5 at booking in and is now 10.4 and asked if i had been feeling tired etc which i have. i have felt really groggy, tired and run down. also when i eat anything with sugar in the crashes i get are awful i struggle to stay awake. she mentioned about iron tablets but then never did anything about it.

what can i eat to increase my iron in take? i would rather not take iron tablets as dont want to make the toilet and pile situation worse but really need some energy. xx

hey hun,

My iron levels went right down and i was prescribed iron tablets but i cant tolerate them at all they make me really really ill..... so i have found eating loads of asda crunchy nut cereal has helped its full of iron ... and tastes better than eating a bowl full or broccolli :(

I've had to take iron tablets since my first lot of bloods, I was passing out before and everything and even after taking them my iron levels aren't brill. Midwife told me Bran flakes, ready brek, spinach, green beans, peas, broccoli, watermelon and beef all have iron in plus lots moree.

have you taken pre natal vitamins they should cover your iron intake xx

I had to go on iron suppliments, and Im feeling better. I don't feel sick, or have bathroom troubles, like I heard might happen. Can you call your mw and ask if you should pick up some tablets? I hope you feel better soon! xxx

I'd call the midwife about getting some iron tablets and try eating special k cereal i find that has a lot of iron in

You can get iron tablets that are meant to be easier on your digestive system if you look around a bit.

Also:
* Red meat
* Egg yolks
* Dark, leafy greens (spinach, collards)
* Dried fruit (prunes, raisins)
* Iron-enriched cereals and grains (check the labels)
* Mollusks (oysters, clams, scallops)
* Turkey or chicken giblets
* Beans, lentils, chick peas and soybeans
* Liver
* Artichokes

Most of the prescripton iron tablets make you constipated, But if you buy the pregnacare ones with iron in they don't (well for me, my cousin and some other girls) they didnt plus they usually have other added vitamins in that are great for you and baby :thumbup: xx

I'm on pregaday which has other supplements in to, ask your midwife she should give you some.
