hey ladies i am a first time mum so not to sure what things i am suppose to feel or anything.
The last 3 days I have barely slept as I have been waking up in [ain with braxton hicks and really bad back ache as well as an upset stomach (diarrhea sorry tmi)
I wasn't aware that braxton hicks are this severe so its come as a bit of a shock! But today I have woken up and the tight feeling as well as aching in my middle to lower stomach is still there. Really my question is, is this normal at this stage in my pregnancy could it just be stretching or am I looking at some early onsets of labor? I just dont know what to expect so your thoughts would be muchly appreciated.

Well i have found that BH can indeed be a bit painful but they tend to get worse the more children you have. I dont really remember them from my first pregnancy tbh, only right near the end, but we are all different. I always say its better to give L&D a ring and put your mind at rest, especially as you are early for things like labour to be starting.

I would give them a call..... if they are bothering you, and it makes you worry, you are early enough for it to be a concern.

yeah i was thinking that would be the way to go we dont have a labor and deliver in the town I live in but I could just go into the emergency at the hospital we live in a very small mining town. It can be so stressful sometimes as a first timer not knowing what to expect and I hate how the doctors or nurses make you feel like an idiot when you have a concern about something. Thanks for the replies ladies

Never worry what they think hun, they will see lots of mums to be over stuff that turns out to be nothing. its your baby and you have every right to worry and to be reassured, thats their job. Hope all goes ok

thanks mumatmadhouse think I might give them a call see what they say. It sucks because my doctors isnt open today and the one that is open the doctor I use to see almost caused me to lose my baby so I refuse to go there so looks like hospital it is.

Definately best to go to the hospital then. They can monitor you better there anyway i would imagine. Let us know how you get on hun xx

Good luck Hon! I agree the hospital is best in your case.

I started getting painful braxton hicks a few weeks ago, and I've been miserable ever since. Haven't really been able to sleep since mid-August because even after a few minutes of laying down I wake up with painful cramping in my belly. I found the only thing that seems to ease it is to take a couple Tylenol before I lay down..without that I would likely never sleep.

I didn't know Braxton Hicks could be this uncomfortable so they really surprised me when they started..but unless they get more intense and come in waves, it's likely nothing to be concerned about.

I didnt end up going to the hospital as they pretty much stopped like half an hour after my last post but have decided that if they wake me again tonight and last again tomorrow I will definitely go down but feeling alot better now. There is alot of things they dont tell you about pregnancy, someone should publish a book about the unglamorous side of pregnancy that they never tell you lol. There is alot that I never knew could happen and am very shocked but at the same time would never change it for the world.

Glad to hear its calmed down for you hun. Just a thought but BH are worse if you are not properly hydrated so make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids.

Yeah I heard that but I drink a minimum of 3 litres a day anyway as I get Uti's regularly but maybe I need more. Thanks hun
