Need to talk?

It does! And it is a sure thing!!!! POSITIVITY!!!!!!!
Knock that 20% outta your head right now missy!!!!!!

I have a question:

If I have a good lining (10mm), AT LEAST 3 good eggs with a trigger shot, BD day before O, IUI the day of ovulation + BD after IUI, then BD again day after O, how in the world do I only have a 20% chance of a BFP?!?!

It seems like it should be WAY higher. Im really having trouble wrapping my brain around the stats... It feels like it should be almost a sure thing, ya know?

I used to think the same thing. Way too much probability for my liking and seeing as how I've been at this for longer than 5 months it doesn't make much sense to me.

Best of luck to you though. I'm still in the TWW for the TWW.....argh. I've never had a lot of patience:coffee:

I've never been very patient myself... I've even considered that maybe ttc is fates way of teaching me. I've been off BC for over 2 years now- really trying for a full year- that's a LONG time. I swing between hopeless and overly hopeful- I mean its GOT to be my turn soon, right?

I think I like the lead up to O best. All the possibility in the world of making a baby. TWW is torture to me though. Stocking up on cheapy tests this month and a multi pack of digitals.

Right. It's just a matter of :baby: or :twinboys: for me this month, right?! :winkwink:

:bfn: is NOT an option!

Sofaqueen- any updates on if the :witch: is coming? I still have fingers crossed for you

Hey Laurana,

No sign of witch and no witch related symptoms yet... Im 15 dpo today.

I'm convinced I'm not pregnant though, and I've accepted that, I just wish the witch would show and I could get on with next month!

I also nearly positive that my delayed AF is due to the Pregnacare Vits.. Ive stopped taking them now, and just take my Folic Acid from now on!

xxxx

I am new to this, What does everything mean? Iui, af... so on and so on. . Lol thanks

Hmmm. Might be time to test again...

We've all been there :)
IUI - inter uterine insemination
AF - Aunt Flo (aka the witch)
BD - baby dance (you get the picture I'm sure)
CD - cycle day
DPO - days post ovulation
TWW - two week wait
BFP - big fat positive
BFN - big fat negative

Laurana: I can't believe IUI is only 20%!!!! But, I guess if we try it next cycle, the 20% would be higher than our percentage rate for TTC for over 3 years. But it sounds like you have covered all of your bases! The doctor told me it would range from $300-$400. That's just the insemination process itself. He didn't mention anything about monitoring. If you don't mind me asking, do you think that's a fairly reasonable price?

Apparently after a year, without help, the success rate is only 3-5%. So yeah- 20% is huge by comparison. But I think the stats are so dependent on circumstance... We are all unique. I'd like to think mine are higher :)

But anyway... My medicated cycle costs:
Generic Clomid: $9
HCG trigger: $190
IUI: $145
Semen wash for IUI: $165
No idea how much my ultrasounds are as my insurance picked those up. Also not sure of my estrace and progesterone costs because of insurance.
Hope that helps :)

Thank you! I have no idea if my insurance will cover any of it. I've been on Clomid before, so he said we would do Femara with the IUI. My husband seemed willing to try it, but now he doesn't ever talk about it any. So, idk. I'm wondering if he'll decide not to do it. If he does, that's okay. I just don't want to take the Femara for nothing. I think I'll try to talk to him about it tonight. I'm expecting AF to be here around Wednesday, so we need to sit down and get this sorted out.

Yeah... Insurance can be weird with this - they pay my office visits, ultrasounds, femara (but not clomid), and trigger but not the iui itself.

Maybe you'll get a BFP and not need that talk :winkwink:

I hope, but husband may not want to do any of it anyway. That kind of makes me sad if he feels that way, but I know his opinion counts greatly in this.

His opinion certainly counts... It's hard to make our needs clear to men on this. My husband took a long time to come around to the iui - he thought I was just being impatient. We thankfully have communicated pretty well and are on the same page now as far as what we are willing to do to conceive. I suggest telling him how you feel, there's a good chance he will go along with whatever plan you feel is best.

Hey guys!

Still no sign of AF...... Getting seriously cranky now, everything and everyone is annoying me today.... My DH went to the doctors about his hip pain, and according to him, the dr spent most of the consultation asking how I was after CP, and the slipped disk!!

She did broach the subjEct of me getting rid of my two cats.... That I've had for 11 years!!!! Not a bloody chance!!!! DH reassured her that as soon as I'm BFP he'll be taking over with the cats! He's mad abut them too!!

I've been reading up re CPs and AF etc, seemingly it's common to have a long cycle after a CP, hormones regularising etc!

Xxx

Get rid of cats?!?? :saywhat: Thats insane. If you actually research it, there is absolutely NO reason for a dr to suggest that.

Moving on though... Yeah- after having a chemical your body is resetting and anything could happen. I had a crazy short cycle after my miscarriage.

I just had an argument with my dr's office today - I had called to ask about when I should start my progesterone and what day to get my blood draw. The answer I got was "Wait two weeks. If you don't get your period your probably pregnant" Ummmm... I think the nurse was either not listening or ********. I did finally get 1/2 the answer- I start progesterone today. No blood draw scheduled because it just wasn't worth arguing with the nurse about why I need it.

TTC is stressful enough without dumb medical staff making it worse.

You need to ring her back tomorrow and organise ur blood work schedule!
Get everything organised and then relax!

I'm a complaints officer in a regional hospital, and this crap really bugs me!!! The amount of complaints I get from patients and relatives about staff attitude, it's crazy!!

I'm getting weird tickle feelings in my uterus. Hoping its something good.

Sofaqueen- any updates?
