i have been using natal hypnotherapy and i have just realised that every time i see someone moaning about being over due etc i automatically hit the:ignore::ignore:button in my head truly reflecting any negative thoughts and or emotions. a week over due and i still dont care am not uncomfy and am pretty chilled out:thumbup: this shizit works :happydance:

Like this - how long have you been having hypno for?

ive been listening to the cds on and off thru the entire pregnancy as they are very relaxing but have been listening to the birth prep cd every day since 34weeks :D

Me too! I've been doing the natal hypnotherapy cd every afternoon and going to a guided birth session once a week.... and I actually think its working!
When i found out I was pregnant I booked with MW and told her "I WANT an elective section"...she said no...then next I was like " I NEED an epidural"...she said we'll see...she got me going on this m'lark and now I'm all " I CAN totally do this naturally! - noone's going to talk me out of it!!!!!!"
So yep, I'm all with you on it working!!!! :)

i just cant deal with people moaning one day over due, get a grip your just going to make time go slower for yourself la la la ignore ignore

I know what you mean, although I'm not overdue I have been using natal hypnotherapy and at this stage with DS I was so fed up and just wanted him here. This time I'm just taking it day by day and I'm happy for her to come when she comes. I'm also more in tune with my body and what it's doing, it's like I can feel my pelvis widening and becoming really soft. Even without birthing with it yet I would highly recommend the CDs

I'm listening to the CD too, but think I may need a bit of extra help to get the best from it - has anybody been on the one/two day courses?

no ive not done any courses couldnt afford to do them but lots of empowering reading and relaxation :D

Where we live in manchester we have free weekly sessions run by a MW at the surestart centre. I'm just so impressed with the sessions I was raving about them in the Oct Bumpkins thread the other day!!

Might be worth contacting your local sure start to see if they offer anything similar? Our are called "guided birth sessions".

HTH! xx

thats ace i wish we had stuff like that here!

Lol the OP made me laugh :)

I am trying it but i don't think i have mastered ridding ALL of the negative thoughts just yet ;)

I still definitely have a bit of fear (1st timer), but i do love the book i'm reading and it puts it all into perspective... I wish all of us and baby and bump existed 100s of years ago so we could see all the posts about no hospitals and epidurals lol ;0) My OH wants me to give birth "african style" squatting against a tree. He doesn't even want to set foot in a hospital, he sure has more faith in me than i do.

As for the cd i am persisting but not fully there yet, though hopefully the relaxation techniques will work the more i practice..

Good thread x

i had a big wobble yesterday as my midwife has been trying to bully me into an induction (previous stillbirth so its easier for them covering their own backs etc) but i have woken up today back on form. i think its natural to be fearful of the unknown but its best to be as open minded as you can be and just accept all of the aches pains and sickness as part of the process. growing people is hard work but some people seem to make it harder for themselves by brooding on what isnt happening rather than enjoying what is :D

ps dont squat against a tree you may get splinters in your bum

I agree milkmachine, hypnobirthing, both natal and another type have got me through pregnancy and being overdue. Now 12 days over and been to the hospital to decline induction and begin monitoring today; scan showed baby absolutely fine, no placenta or fluid issues, not measuring big, infact she's measuring 40 weeks so maybe not that overdue at all! So in every other day next week for monitoring and we'll let baby come when she's ready. I'm getting annoyed at women moaning about being 1 day overdue as if the EDD is magic!

I've just started these cds a couple of days ago so good to hear they are working for you. As for moaners being overdue, I have always told myself pregnancy is 42wks so that way I will not be getting stressed out when my due date arrives and passes with no baby. People ask my due date and I always say '16th' but I am not looking into that date too much. I even add 2 weeks on how many weeks I have left if people ask. X

yeah me too, its like they get to the edd and just decide that they are going to have the arse until the baby arrives, we are all uncomfy but its not forever!

Hi DrMum, do you mind me asking whereabouts in Manchester are these classes held? I live in Manchester too and would love to attend something like this once I start my mat leave!

Thanks! :flower:

I've used the homestudy course from this UK based hypnobirthing lady as well as natal (you need plenty to stop you getting bored of the tracks!) :
https://www.tums2mums.com/
Its really good and at £30 cheaper than a full course but you get a workbook and loads of mp3's to use. The woman Dany is approachable too and will answer any emails.

hi Sherry
No problem! The one I go to is round the Worsley area. The woman who does them is called Linda and is a midwife. She does monday afternoon at Winton Library Surestart centre and wednesday morning at Little Hulton Sure start centre. When does your Mat leave start? If you want to come along over the next couple of weeks while I'm still going (hopefully wont be going for too much longer!!!!! :)) then PM me and we can meet up. xxx

Hi DrMum,

I've got 3 weeks left in work then 2 weeks' annual leave followed by mat leave...can't wait! :happydance: I'm ashamed to say I have no idea where Worsley is! (I have only been living in Manchester for a few years) But I'll google it and if it's not too far from me (I live near Sale) then I'll def look into going. Haven't ordered any CDs yet but I've not seen a bad review about hypnobirthing so really want to give it a try. Anything to reduce the fear of giving birth in about 10 weeks' time!

Thanks very much for getting back to me and for your invitation (shame I'm still in work!) xxx

I also meant to say good luck over the next few weeks, and I hope the hypnobirthing is helpful to you when the time comes to use it! xxx
