At my 20 week scan they said it looked like there was calcification in her heart and they wanted to check up on it again at 29 weeks.. Well, appointment is tomorrow afternoon. they said it might go away by 29 weeks, so hopefully it has, but I'm stressing so bad that something's wrong :( anyone else have this happen too? Did it go away?

No experience with this, just letting you know got fingers crossed for you over here!

Haven't any experience hun but just wanted to say good luck... Fingers crossed its all ok - sure it will be :hugs: xxx

I don't have experience but wanted to wish you all the best with your scan.

Thanks for your support <3 I'll let you know how tomorrow goes. My hubby says he's sure everything will be okay, but I'm a worrier, so I worry about every little thing that could possibly be wrong

My LO had it [It's called an EIF - Echogenic Intracardiac Focus] and it scared the life out of dh and I when they found it as I hadn't a clue what it was or what it meant and they didn't help by giving much info.... It was still there at the follow up but my LO is now 5 months old and it has had zero affect on her heart or health.
It's fairly common and unless they see other indications of abnormalities, it's usually completely harmless [although they sure like to scare you when you get the news, made me mad that they had us worried sick for so long.] I really really hope that either way, even if it's still there on your scan tomorrow that it doesn't bring any other issues.

This is from the Wiki page:

Echogenic intracardiac focus (EIF) is a small bright spot seen in the baby’s heart on an ultrasound exam. This is thought to represent mineralization, or small deposits of calcium, in the muscle of the heart. EIFs are found in about 3-5% of normal pregnancies and cause no health problems.

EIFs themselves have no impact on health or heart function. Often the EIF is gone by the third trimester. If there are no problems or chromosome abnormalities, EIFs are considered normal changes, or variants.

Hope this helps to ease your fear a bit :hugs:

Wanted to wish you luck and a lovely scan :) My partner is the same, he always insists everything is perfectly fine but I worry :haha:
I'll check for your update <3

thank you, that made me feel a lot better <3 they really do like to scare you with that don't they :( it's seemed like I've had to wait so long, not knowing what's going on.

Well the spot is still there, but everything else looked great, and heartbeat was good, so she said I shouldn't worry. She scheduled another ultrasound at 33 weeks to check up on her again and make sure everything is still okay.

Glad it was reassuring news. I asked a friend about it as her son had one they picked up in-utero... She said her doctor was really unconcerned and only mentioned it because she had to. Also said that she was told that one in 5 babies this doctor scanned had some form of calcification picked up in its heart and that she had yet to see a baby born with an actual heart problem from just this one symptom.

Xxx

That's good news! Fingers crossed that spot disappears by 33 weeks.

The spot hasn't gotten bigger or anything, so it looks pretty small now compared to how it looked the first time. I'm less worried about it now, cause the doctor didn't seem concerned at all, and Cloë seemed really healthy :)

Fantastic! Pregnancy can be so stressful can't it? And beautiful name too by the way :)

Very stressful, especially since this is my first, and everything is so new. And thank you ^.^

Just came across this post and I know its from a few years ago but looking for an update :)

Looks like the OP hasn't signed in again since 2014 but there is an update just above that says:

And going by her signature, the baby was born 05/16/14! :D
Hope that helps!
