i am suppose to be 37 weeks on monday. every apt except the last 2 the doc has said i was measuring fine. now she is saying that i am measuring around 33 weeks. i am carrying small. but also in the last week i feel like i have gotten a little bigger, and dropped!
doc also thinks that i may be measuring small because the baby is super low. the baby has been really low for awhile! since around 30-32 weeks. i hope thats all this is!!!
she wants me to go have an U/S done to make sure the baby is measuring ok, to check my fluid levels, and my dates.
im really scared that the baby is going to be small, and have something wrong!!!
im not going to lie, i was not able to quit smoking. i cut back from what i was smoking before. please dont preach to me! i dont want to hear it! i beat myself up all the time! and i wish that i could quit! i am so so disappointed in myself! and now i cant help but think there is something wrong because of what i did!
i told DH this, and he made me feel like this is my fault! i know he didnt mean to, but that did not help!
has anyone else been told this before? if so what happend??

At least you cut back... really and you tried.... the important thing is to go have your scan and make sure all is well with the baby now. It very well could be that baby has dropped and that's all it is. Or it could be low fluid... could you have had leakage? Those are the only 2 things that I can think of that would cause you to go from 37 to 33 weeks.

Try to start calm.... don't stress anymore, that's not good for you or the baby. Drink lots of fluids.... and try to relax

i dont think there was any leakage. i thought there was, but i was wrong. and it wasnt.
it is so hard not to stress! im trying not to. but i keep having these horrible thoughts about what could be wrong. i know its wrong to think stuff like im thinking, but i cant help it!

I was measuring smaller by 2cm the other week and it was because my LO was down lower and sitting further into my back...just got get ur U/S and I am sure all will be fine...

Its totally normal to have worries like your doing now, its your baby! But they are checking as a precaution, so try to keep your mind off it until the time comes. I'm sure everything will be fine, don't beat yourself up about it sweet, you don't need the stress xx

I think it's coz baby has dropped. Try not to worry too much. At least they are offering you a scan to find out

The only thing you can really do is wait and see what the scan will reveal. My LO is diagnosed with IUGR and is small (measuring weeks and weeks behind) and the only thing I could do is just breathe and pray that scans didnt reveal anything horrible. Now I have heard that growth scans are not always accurate so who knows. Good thing is that LO is being monitored. Please dont think of horrible scenarios. I did when I found out about my LO condition and it literally had me shook..Now I will 37 weeks on Monday and LO will either be here by induction in a week or two or naturally. Doctors sometimes can scare you worse then what needs to be. I am praying your scan goes well. Keep positive thoughts mama!! You will be fine

It's probably b/c baby has moved position or dropped. I had something similar happen to me with my second baby. He had been measuring big every week and then all of a sudden he was measuring a week small. My doc told me it wasn't unusual at that point and that he had probably dropped. Don't worry, don't beat yourself up. It will be okay.

This just happened to my sister, too. The baby was ok on the ultrasound, though and was born Monday at a healthy 8 lbs 2 oz!

i am not sure when the scan is yet, they are going to call me monday to set up the apt.
it is also reassuring that scans can sometimes be wrong/off.

it is so hard to not think and worry about it. i really hope that it is just because the baby is low. but it has been low since i was 30-32 weeks, so why would i just now be measuring small?
what are the chances of me actually not being this far along??

I'd say babys dropped, fundal height changes alot when baby engages, she should know this my be the case and have advised you rather then send you off in worry.

This will make you feel better (it doesn't have to be 40 weeks for baby to drop so dont take much notice of the weeks

Hey. My mum smoked with me and I'm fine. Your baby needs yiubto be strong and not guilty or beating yourself up. About size. I'm under the main consultant at the hospital. He said the belly measuring is rubbish and us us 20 percent out so its a lb wrong either way. He asked me what I felt about babies size. He Said in all his experience thats what he found to be most accurate. So try and forget what everyone has told you and think about your gut feeling. Is it small? What do you think? Honestly this is my third and I'm worried something will be wrong. It's natural your a mum all you ever do now is worry. Good luck

YES!! I was told i was measuring small for weeks because i have a tiny bump. It stressed me out no end because although i eat i have been very stressed during pregnancy and prob havent eaten enough (as of today i've gained 2lbs). Anyway last week i was sent for an ultrasound to check growth (and i had back pain). Shes not small at all, shes just tucked right back (hense back pain). Going by my measurements they said 6lb at 37 weeks, going by ultrasound they said 8lbs!! Have you had an ultrasound??

what does it mean when you say baby is engaged? this is my first pregnancy, and the docter hasnt mentioned the baby being engaged, just really low.

thank you so much. i dont know what i feel. i have had about 6 U/S before, and they said one of the last ones that the baby was in the 30% and was weighing fine.
i cant help but think that LO is going to be small for how small i am carrying. but i am also a tall girl at 5'9", and doc said before that some tall women tend to carry inside more than out.. but not in all cases, so i am just hoping that is whats going on for me!

i wish to that my husband was home to go through this with me. he travels for work and has been gone for 2 weeks now, and is suppose to be coming home next week. hard to go through this alone!

Try not to worry. I too have been told i am having a small baby. I am being monitored twice a week and baby appears healthy just on the small side. Every pregnancy is different and whats a normal healthy weight foryou maybe small to someone else. This is what dr told me anyway. X
