Hello all,

We are booked to go on holiday on Friday- to Egypt for 7 nights.

I feel fine and since the first tri have had a really easy pregnancy but I am being neurotic about the baby and going away. My husband says it is totally up to me (which is sweet but doesn't help me)!

There are so many what ifs- what if the baby comes early? what if I get food poisoning? etc etc.

I know the baby is very unlikely to come this early and I will be INCREDIBLY careful with food still but worry worry worry, I would never forgive myself if anything happened...

Would you ladies stay or go??? x

You might want to go away and it's not for very long. Besides, once the baby arrives, you probably won't get that much time to go away and you'll both be busy with a little one on your hands. ;)

I would go but be very cafeful. Its not just the food to watch, dont handle any money what so ever its filthy! Also dont touch surfaces unnecessarily and carry anti bac hand gel with you everywhere!

Given it's Egypt i'd be inclined not to go.. the heat combined with the worry over what water would be safe to drink would worry me to much. However if you've been before you will have a better idea.

I'm afraid your OH is right this is a decision only you can make. Would you lose money Is there anyway you could transfer theholiday to a destination that is perhaps safer (more medical services etc)

Thanks guys- we are booked to stay in a really nice hotel (which I don't intend leaving)! so I guess a lot of sanity issues will be avoided but worry worry worry! x

They do have babies in Egypt you know

Seriously, as long as you drink bottled water, don't have ice in your drinks, and make sure all food is piping hot you'll be fine. Use the bottled water to clean your teeth too if you're worried about a dodgy tum. The tap water in Egypt is actually safe to drink, but it has more minerals than our water does and that can cause tummy troubles.

The money is filthy, but last time I went I noticed there were lots of new notes around, but make sure you have baby wipes and anti bac gel. If you leave the hotel take a pack of tissues with you as some toilets are staffed and you are obliged to give the attendant some small change (baksheesh) in exchange for not much toilet paper lol.

I'm going to Luxor in after Christmas. I can't wait. Normally we'd be in and out of tombs and temples, but not sure bump will like that too much. So it's the rooftop pool with a lovely view over the valley of the kings for me :happydance:

I think you should go, definitely!! I wish I was going on holiday :) Have an amazing time!! x

Just thought I'd say the weather will be lovely there now. Warm and sunny in the day but not too hot and cooler in the evenings, perfect winter sun! Enjoy it while you can :)

Hey i went to Egypt in the summer & before i went i was warned of delly belly (egyptian bad belly)
Never thought much of it but i got it & i have to admit it was awful for me just general bad tummy & awful diarrhoea that is uncontrolable i was there for 2 weeks it was awful & i drank bottled water did everything i was supposed to?

Don't want to scare u, maybe more warn you to go see your gp & ask them to prescrible u some tablets that are safe in pregnancy for you to take with you incase it does happen?
Most of the people on our group suffered with it even my kids other than that it was lovely x

U are in the best time of ur pregnancy if first or last tri I'd prob say no. Be careful and enjoy the relax you certainly won't get any when baby arrives. Dont let ur bump overheat!

You should go if you really want to...
I'm going to Hawaii @ 32 weeks pregnant and that is about an 8 hour flight for me.
No one seems too concerned about it and my OB said it's ok...so why not.
Have fun
