So we had our gorgeous daughter on Monday and came home Wednesday. I had a section so pretty sore still. Trying hard to still give plenty of cuddles and attention although he's more into his daddy anyway and always has been.

Our son absolutely loves the new baby, constant kisses and cuddles, helps get wipes etc. But for some reason meal times have become a real struggle... He's always been an amazing eater and will eat pretty much anything but now he will purposely throw food, cutlery, scream and cry barely eating anything.

Not sure what to do really. He's a big boy so by no means skinny but I don't want him being hungry. I also wonder whether it could be teeth as be is cutting some huge molars?!

Any advice ladies please!!! Xxx

Congratulations :)

It does sound like its his way of rebelling a little bit to the baby. Even if hes happy with her initially, its confusing for their little minds and I think they act out in ways they dont normally just to let you know iykwim. My DS adored his brother when he came home but didnt stop him hitting him once or twice and other small things.

To be honest, as baby is so new I would just ignore it for now, dont make a big fuss, just take the food away calmly if he refuses to eat it. Dont worry, he wont go hungry. It wont hurt them to skip a meal now and again, my DS does it all the time. The other night he went to bed after point blank refusing his dinner, ands he hadnt even had an afternoon snack so he went to bed on only his lunch which hed had at 12.30! Hell soon learn to eat it if hes hungry, it doesnt take them long to work these things out!!

Congrats!! How was the birth?

I agree with Aphrodite, just react calmly and follow through with removing food if he is being destructive with it. Are you feeding the new baby at mealtimes? Is she on your lap then?

Thanks ladies for replying :)

Yes she will often be fed then or around on lap.

Made his favourite last night of macaroni cheese and it went ok ish! Ate the most he's prob had in a while but still threw cutlery...
Not sure what to cook this evening. Made a lovely chicken casserole the other day that he just refused to eat - very frustrating.
