Had my 12 weeks scan yesterday, baby is perfect and very active! I'm happy to start decorating the nursery now. I have read that you should put a new carpet down but it didn't say why. My boyfriend works for a company who clean carpets, will that be ok? The carpet is only 3 yrs old.

Thanks ladies xx

I think whatever you read said that just for the cleanliness factor. Once the lil' bub is big enough, the floor will be his or her world and you don't want a dirty carpet for the baby to crawl around on. I'm planning on having my carpet cleaned when the time comes but I think new carpet is excessive!

We just got our carpet changed but it needed doing anyway...

I think a good steam cleaning would be just fine. New carpet sounds excessive to me.

As long as it's clean it should be fine.

I think if you keep everything too sterile then babies don't build up good immunities.

Cleaning should do the trick nicely. Plus, I'd be more worried about the toxic chemical in new carpeting than the dirt in a carpet - which as meow suggests, might be good for baby's immune system anyway!

Save your money and get yourself a massage instead!

Bah. We got new carpet in Byron's room because we decorated the whole room and the carpet was years old before we moved in. In the rest of our upstairs there are ancient disgusting carpets that we're going to get replaced after our building work is finished. I think sometimes these things are beyond excessive!

It does sound a bit much, I would of thought a good clean would be perfect! We're having to get a new carpet but only because the room doesn't have one in!

We just got all new carpet not even a year ago so I'm not bothering. We got a nice neutral color (which hides stains amazingly!)
