...Baby Lewis is now 11 days old. He is a good wee baby, I am breastfeeding - he generally feeds on demand, I don't like him to go much longer than 3 hours between feeds. He feeds consistently throughout the day and sleeps between feeds - he is very content during the day.

At night however, he seems to have a real problem with wind and getting settled in his crib. We were up until 6am this morning! I have been reassured by the MW that babies staying up during the night is normal. We have tried infacol and different ways of winding him. Does anyone have any advice? I know this is early days and that his stomach is very small, and getting used to digesting milk, etc.

Thanks! :flower:

Not really got any advice, but didnt want to read and run!

Have you tried Gripe water for the wind? Is he teething?

I have tried Infacol for the wind, and I don't think he's teething - he's only 11 days old! Thanks anyway x

no advice really sorry... other than to say i didn't think u could use gripe water until a month old??
my lo seems windy on a night but i end up puttin him on my chest nd rubbin his back until i realise that i'm asleep nd then i put him in his crib!

We had a similar thing with Ava, but she is formula fed.
We swapped her milk to comfort milk.

As you arte breastfeeding, it probably isn't the same thing, I would say carry on with the infacol, it can take a while to work. x

Hey sweetie, I don't have any advice just :hugs: things will get easier over time and you are doing great! Babies don't like to let us sleep much in the early days.

I remember Eva didn't sleep much at night for the first few wka but it soon changes!

It takes them a while to learn that night time means sleep and daytime is awake time. Your LO will soon get into a pattern as gets older they do sleep most of the time at that age.

Re: the wind, try keeping ur LO upright fir 10mins to half hr after feeds and persist with winding before laying down to sleep.

The infacol helped my LO for a while but then it made her wind worse so beware.

Grip water is good but ur not meant to use it till 2 months old although if it's really really bad my MW advised justvto give half a teaspoon but not too often before 2 months.

Trystin gets like this and we have to bounce him and rock him until he finally burps it all up. he screams the whole time but it's the only thing that works. he's almost a month and we gave him sugar water and he calmed right down and went to sleep. he only drank a tiny bit. you can try a warm bath before bed. and burp him regularly while breastfeeding.

sounds normal, in the early days i would have to sleep with amari on my chest.
nothing worked for us, but it started to get better once we started co-sleeping :).

Aside from the gas issue (which you've gotten great advice over), it's also a comfort thing. He is so young and tiny, I'm sure he'd much rather be on you and attached to a warm breast 24/7! The world is big and scary. This is where a swaddle may come in handy :)
