(NEW TEST P.2) Blue dye tests - evap line or positive? Advice so greatly appreciated!

Okay so, I don't know if this question has been posted yet, I'm still really new at this site, but I guess I'll go ahead and ask because it's been bothering me all day!

My period was supposed to start last Saturday, 7 days ago, and still no sign. I've been taking numerous HPTs in hopes of figuring out why I'm so late, and because I've heard that sometimes women don't get a positive until several weeks after their expected period?? All have been negative.

Anyway, I took one this morning with FMU with the blue dye tests. A thick vertical line showed up probably 30 seconds after peeing on the stick, however, it was VERY faint, but it was definitely there. Then about an hour later, it turned from a thick faint blue line, to a very thin dark blue line.

I took another one about an hour later and it was negative, and then bought the pink dye tests and took that one 5 hours later and still negative. I've heard of blue dye tests being notorious for evaporation lines, but this line showed up very fast.

I just don't know what to think of it! I'm going to take another pink dye test tomorrow with FMU, but I just wanted to see if any of you have experienced the same thing or know anything about what may be going on? Could I really be pregnant from what I described?

It's hard to talk about this stuff with my friends because they're all in college with no kids or even thoughts about marriage or their future. I'm the only oddball with a 3-year-old. So any advice would be helpful! Thanks so much guys!!!

Thanks guys! I figured I should post a picture so you can see more of what I'm talking about. You have to click on them to see them better. In the second one you can kind of see how it is wider but very faint. When it first showed up, the wide part was not as faint. But now it's faded completely into one thin line, and the thin line is now darker blue.

Let me know what you think! It's really nice having people to help me with this!! And to have positive feedback (even though we're WTT, I would aboslutely love another LO)

I see the lines hunny and I hope its start of BFP. I heard only to trust the blue ones if its thick and dark. Have you got any pink dye tests?

I've heard that too :/ The only reason I thought it still may be possible was because it was definitely as thick as the control line at first, just very faint, but I'm 100% sure I saw it because my heart started pounding hard and I started to get shaky! I guess because I wasn't expecting it haha. I've gotten evap lines in the past, but they only ever appeared hours or days after the BFN, and they were always just a thin line with no hint of anything thicker. But this one showed up almost instantly, and it was faintly thick.

I bought a 3-pack of pink dye tests today and took one about 5 hours after this one and it was BFN. But I'm wondering if since the positive this morning was so faint, that it's just still too early to show up every time.

Who knows, but thanks so much for the positive response! I'll take another pink dye test tomorrow morning with FMU

Yeah hun if this is positive and so faint then one taken 5 hours later bound to be very very faint showing BFN. I suppose you wont know till next few days of pink tests xxx

I know, I am so impatient! I'm keeping myself from starting my next pack of bcp's until I finally know so I hope I find out soon! I've almost convinced myself that I am that if it ends up being false positive I think I'll be a little bummed :/ Thanks for the response!

I took FRER this morning with FMU and I could've sworn I saw an extremely faint line but OH thought I was just seeing things because I want it so bad, and I couldn't even get it to show up on a picture. 5 hours later i took a digital and it came up "Not Pregnant," but that wasn't FMU and I have heard that digitals are not as sensitive so maybe I did ovulate late and it's still too early? Maybe I'm just trying to convince myself of something that's not there!

I'm taking two more tomorrow (1 FRER and 1 blue dye) and if those are both BFN , and the blood test I'll be taking tomorrow is also, I'll be completely out and go back to normal and stop thinking about it 24/7!

Digitals [Clear blue and EPT] both detect at 25miu, which is the same as the First response tests and those cheapie blue dyes you have used. Digital tests are just as sensitive as regular mid stream and dip tests.

In fact, I had a CB digital detect pregnant at only 15miu....I'd say it's safe to start your BCP, those blue dye tests are notorious for evap lines even during the time frame If you're really concerned, you can always get a blood test to confirm or deny pregnancy.

I took 2 tests last week and they were bfp. I did a doctors urine test 3 days later and that was bfn she said. I did a test this morning and it was negative. I was really getting my hopes up. I have a couple more tests, so I will still use those throughout. I still have not had no period since June(and that was only spotting for a few days). My partner told me to demand an ultrasound. Ugghh, what a bunch of mixed emotions.

I think they should take all blue dye tests off the market, because that has to get so many people's hopes up! I've even found an article on a website that said specifically "If a colored line (blue or pink) shows up before ten minutes, then it's a positive. If a colorless line shows up after the ten minutes, then it's an evap line." So if women are getting evaps within the time frame, they should not be selling those tests! It has me convinced that I'm pregnant. So frustrating!

Stuckinoki, thanks for letting me know about the digitals. I don't know why I thought they were less sensitive? I guess because with the +- tests you can look for something faint, but with digitals it doesn't say "Kinda Pregnant" lol. I have started my pills again and just went for a blood test this morning. Should get results by Wednesday.

It showed up about 30 seconds after peeing on it. Then the next day and today I get all negatives. What did your positives look like? What type of test was it? You should ask for a blood test, especially since you're so late for your period. I have one HPT left and I'm going to wait 3 days and take it on Thursday morning, so by then if it's negative I'll be pretty positive that my BFP was an evap. Still no explanation for the missed period though, oh well.

So this is my test from this morning SMU. AF was due 9 days ago. The line came up before the 10 minute mark but was very faint at first and has slowly gotten darker. What do you think??? ANOTHER evap?

I have one pink dye test that I think I'm going to wait until Thursday to take so I can stop driving myself crazy trying to find lines and just find out for sure!

Aspe, I know exactly what you're going through. My last period was June 30, and I am now 9 days overdue for my next. I've taken tons of tests, and only one came out looking positive. It showed up about 30 seconds after peeing on it. Then the next day and today I get all negatives. What did your positives look like? What type of test was it? You should ask for a blood test, especially since you're so late for your period. I have one HPT left and I'm going to wait 3 days and take it on Thursday morning, so by then if it's negative I'll be pretty positive that my BFP was an evap. Still no explanation for the missed period though, oh well.

I did 2 blue dye tests (clear blue plus and a Walmart brand). As soon as the pee hit it, they were positive. The positive line is still there today, just a little lighter. The lines where thick and blue, not a skinny line. Followed by a negative at the doctors and a negative at home. I will be going to the doctor at the end of the month demanding them to find out what is wrong with me.

I have done more tests and negative. However, still no period and growing stomach. Was it a chemical? What should I do next?

I went to a gastro specialist because of all my symptoms and he didn't even want to make any decisions yet because he doesn't feel positive I'm not pregnant, even with all the negative tests. He said he's had women come in complaining of stomach issues but negative pregnancy tests, and it wasn't until he did x-rays on them that they found out they were pregnant. I'm just sooooo frustrated and want to KNOW for sure if I am or not, so that I can finally act one way or the other. I have an appointment with my gyno on Wednesday and since I'll be 18 days late I think I'm going to ask her if I can have an ultrasound to be absolutely positive. Hoping she says yes so I can finally have some explanation!

Since my last post I have not taken another test. I will again within the next 2 days. I have a feeling the next tests will still be negative . I am 8 weeks late and no period. I don't understand why I had 2 bfp's, followed by the rest negatives, but still no period and growing stomach. I also have other symptoms but I am not chalking them up to pregnancy yet as my tests have since been negative. Be sure to let me know how your appointment goes on Wednesday. My partner also told me to demand bloodwork and ultrasound.
